Well the price says "fully installed" and it says "Installed, commissioned and tested by a fully qualified team to ensure MCS compliance" so that should cover those concerns.
Mind you, they are charging an additional £430 to deliver into Scotland.

Thing is you don't know the quality of the install.

Mcs is full of cowboys, much like the heat pump game. You get people getting the qualifications and doing poor jobs but it's fine because their "mcs"

I'd want to see examples of the work personally

Where as if you go on a specialist social company you will get examples of their work

On the off-chance that there isn’t going to be a supernova this afternoon today will be the 1st day in April that we imported more electricity than we exported. I actually don’t think we are going to export any today. That’s a 26 day streak broken.

As I posted on the EV thread I've plugged in the Kona and requested a smart charge to fill up the powerwall at 7.5p to make sure I don't pay for day rate 🤣

Ended up costing me £1.10 in charge topping up

The house I topped up about 6kw so 45p

Total of £1.65 added to today's bill rather than using the day rate

Wife's car won't need charging for another month and house has ample battery to make it through until 23:30 when the cheap rate kicks back in

I can see myself gaming the system like this on winter days where we are going to touch the day rate.

Love tech

what are your day rates? I know you pay like 6p or 9p off peak, but the day?

27.89p a kw

So basically it's worked out I saved £1 most likely, but instead I just diverted that £1 into the car..

Least then I have something to show for that £1

Ok, if we get an EV and if we’d rive about 6,000 miles (which we don’t) then we could pay about £180 off peak (also run the house) a year, or £560 peak.

I just paid £70 to fill up the Focus after half term in Weymouth. Next fill after the bank holiday. That’s 2 trips for nearly all the off peak budget, do I get that right?

Roughly.

If you got a smart tariffs like Intelligent go and all your charging for the car is 7.5p a unit , based on 3 miles a kWh 6000 miles would need 2000 kWh which Is £150

Bear in mind that whenever the charger is feeding the car on intelligent go your house gets all it's units at 7.5p a kw (I fill my battery every night with the cheap tariff to run the house)

That time of month again for latest bill

Billed cost £63.32 (£15.67 was cars rest house)
Export paid to me £17.8
Total energy used 942kwh

Cost without system (942 times current standard variable tariff plus standing charge as it's like for like) £252.68

Savings this month £207.16

Brings year 2 to a close savings were £2282.73 (year 1 was £1258 but I was locked at my super cheap rate for most of that)

System cost £15321.79
Left to pay as of today £11780.94 going on an average of £1800 a year saving would break even in 6.5 years from now.

I do like from all this that this month's export was more than I used charging the cars at home.

Had a chance to read my latest bill, as I've actually smart charged now I wanted to check it reflects the charging in the bill

So from 23:30-05:30 every day regardless my house is billed at 7.5p a kw .. however if the car is charged smartly out of these hours by octopus I'm billed at 7.5p for those times aswell. (House aswell)

Saturday I tested this with a request for 20% charge by 15:00 and I topped up my powerwall at same time. As above the rate kicked in for that time.

The idea of smart charging is it charges the car when the grid has the least demand , like a surplus or low carbon , or just cheaper for them.

Really good system and saves a fortune

Where are you?
I'm in Devon and today it has been raining pretty much all day.
Generation today was the worst day in the whole of April - 1.9kWh.
(Best day in April was 20th - 25.3kWh)

I've never seen numbers that high, my system tops out about 30kw in the height of summer

Yesterday I got 22kw today 20kw

Yesterday exported 10kw today only 5kw as I was doing washing , dishwasher etc

Sunny Surrey…. As we get into summer, the sun will get higher and above the (shading) trees. If only our roof was a bit more angular, we would do even better. But I am not complaining. I hope today was not a one off, a bit like sales closing for the month end ..
