Hi all,

As you may remember I posted a little while ago about starter set and irons. Well, whilst playing the 9 hole this morning I had a revelation! Whils waiting at one of the tees I thought I would mess around and try something I saw online about focusing a couple of inches in front of the ball in order to hit down on it and lo and behold 3 swings 3 tidy divots right were I would want it to be! So as the course was empty I tried a few iron shits from the fairway and it worked! So I have decided that the swilkens are not to blame, I am just rubbish and they get to stay!

Just goes to show how much difference a couple of inches can make ;)

on a serious note does anyone know anything about swilken clubs other than they hail from Scotland and are named after a bridge? That's about as much as I hve been able to find our.

Cheers

Sounds like you're not getting through the shot, weight hanging on the back foot through impact.

Maybe you're 'looking ahead' method worked today but as a rule you want to be looking at the back of the ball during the swing I reckon.

I remember them from the eighties my dad had a set when he first started if I am right they were a kinda budget set then. I don't think they make them anymore now.

Just re-read my my first post and I don't think the iPhone did me any favours with the spelling!

Cheers for the info guys. much appreciated

I'm not sure what you are practicing is necessarily the best way forward as it sounds like there may be weight transfer issues as birdieman alluded to. I'd get a pro to have a look if I was you. I'm not sure Swilken are still making club (although I stand to be corrected) so can't really help you. I seem to remember them being part of the John Letters group at one point in the 80's

I believe Swilken are now Forgan, but I may be wrong about that, although it does ring a bell.
