So, who's got their 2014 holidays booked..

...also - Glasgow tomorrow for six days to see my mum - and I'll count that as a holiday as I am apparently not 'Scottish enough' to call it going home.

I find your attitude to it quite strange. I was born and bred in Wolverhampton, left at 16 (1979) when I joined up and thereafter never lived in the same country for more than 3 years let alone the same town. That was until 2001 when I moved to Scotland where I have remained ever since. I would never even consider for a moment calling the black country home.

SILH, you clearly miss Alba so much, why don't you move back?

We booked a week @ euro Disney cheap train tickets released on Xmas eve. Not the most relaxing holiday but the lad loves it. And by going for a week frees up some holiday for an occasional away day. :)

Two trips to sunny cheap Spain booked for July and October. Prague in December, and might squeeze in a boys trip to St Enodoc. Loving this semi retirement.

Sounds like some great holidays planned. Hopefully Cornwall will get the sun this year, as will everywhere else.. Happy New Year everyone..:D

Golfing in turkey for first week in feb and just deciding a honeymoon location for July.

Island of Penang in malaysia or langkawi isand ...............good as t gets and not that expensive if you book it yourself ...............

Hong Kong & Philippines next week , then Southport golfing in may the the Algarve in October , will get Malaysia in somewhere between that lot ................................EYH

JCW you're not gonna get much golf for your dollar in Honky, but if you go across the border there are some beautiful courses just outside Shenzen and Guanzhou. Apologies if you are already aware of this. Enjoy

Why do the majority of Brits book holidays during the UK summertime, when the weather is so guff in the winter? Why not go on holiday to somewhere warm at this time of year?
I have always thought that as well. School holiday prices just take the .......!!!!

Ok, we've just taken a gamble and booked our holiday for 2014. 2 weeks in Perranporth in July/August... Got a beautiful stone cottage, withing 5 minutes walk of Bolingey and only 10 minutes to the beach. 2 weeks of surfing, golfing (Saunton, RND and possibly St Enodoc/Perranporth), diving and drinking.. :D:thup:

Looking out of the window at the rain and cold, I can't wait...

Anyone else got a holiday booked?

Sounds nice pal... Hopefully a house move first, then we can start thinking about holidays.... NY/Vegas/San Fran was amazing this year and can highly recommend it if anybody is thinking of going stateside.....

Well fine - but my spiritual home will always be Glasgow - I have no feeling of emotional attachment whatsoever to Surrey. And home for me implies emotional attachment. So I could say that I currently live or stay in Surrey - but is it 'home'? No - not really.

And as for not returning to Alba. Opportunity did not present itself when I was younger and once kids arrived Surrey is their home and my wife said absolutely no chance of us moving anywhere far from here (never mind Scotland) whilst children growing and then at school and further education. Now they are at uni and on cusp of standing on their own two feet we may well move away in 3-4 yrs time and, yes, Scotland is a possibility. But this is probably off topic so sorry for raising it. :)

We've just taken the option on the in-laws timeshare at Orange Lake for a week in April and then will probably go somewhere with the dogs later in the year but that's yet to be decided.

Family holiday in a huge villa in Portugal was booked in November 2013 for August 2014 ! Just gotta find cheap flights now. Any advice on how to get cheap golf would be appreciated. We're in the middle of the Algarve. I may not come back. Hate this country.
