so the jet stream is too far south hence the utter tosh weather and looks like more of the same well into July & beyond!

I can see this summer being a washout golf wise. I may have to invest in some macwets and GG's :D

If I had the money I would sod off abroad for a few weeks

Played a mixed comp today and we had prefered lies and the bunkers were out of play. It's more like winter golf than summer golf ffs.

No golf today as I was off visiting mum. Nipped up to the club and the practice ground is flooded and plenty of standing water on the first and tenth as I wandered past. Not looking good for tomorrow and the stableford

The joy of playing at a sand based course. Drains very very quickly, and no standing water anywhere! No course closure here!

Played early this morning, no rain and course dry underfoot despite the last few days rain.

Takes a lot for RAGC to have standing water so things must be bad

my new IJP tartan trousers and Nike Lunar whatevertheirnameis arrived today, will stick with my old black trousers, waterproofs and AQL's for tomorrow... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr the one time I have the opportunity to dress slightly garishly is dashed by the crappy weather :(

Sky weather said 3rd week in July should see dramatic improvement, just in time for the Open.

Well the forecast was wrong, very very wrong. Today was a lovely day for golf, light winds, some blue sky(yes we even saw that shiney yellow orb a few times) and only a couple of light showers.
It was the first time that I have played in July with prefered lies and the bunkers out of play as several were still flooded from the nights rain. Hoping they have got it right for tomorrow with sunshine and light winds for the second round of our club championship.

sorted my brolly holder out, waterproofs reproofed, 6 gloves packed and spare socks for afterwards :)

Hope the course is ok, no doubt bunkers will have a fair bit of water in them though :(

36 hole handicap trophy yesterday and I got a little sun burn....swealtering hot and was t-shirt weather all the way round. The forecase for this weekend was terrible all week, and its actually been one of the best weekends for ages. Who said it always rains in the NW? ..... go figure

Presidents Putter on Saturday, geared up waiting 10 mins before tee time when the heavens opened......and boy did they open. A couple of rolls of thunder, a couple of lightening flashes and within 5 mins groups were wandering in. 2nd, 5th, 6th and 8th were all flooded, the 2nd was apparently under 3 inches of water at one point. The cup on the 18th was in the middle of a puddle which was running as a 3 foot wide river right down the middle of the green...... The rain lasted for about 30 minutes I suppose before the event was cancelled. The President was extremely disappointed, as was everyone that had finished by lunchtime when the rain kicked in....
