So, after leaving the house at 5am (in a car that failed it's MOT yesterday for something or other) and consequently driving at 50mph around the M25 when we realised how early we would be, me and my girlfriend are here at Wentworth.

Watched J.Rose putt for a bit, he pushed a few. He then either nodded at me or Sara. I can't be sure.

Just sitting on a bench by the first tee. Bradley Dredge is in game one and all three players stuck their tee shots down the middle.

Will probably be on the 18th grandstand.

Unfortunately my knee isn't strong enough to follow a group. Especially with the amount of food we've brought with us! I'll be watching people tee off and then try and get a good seat in the grandstand.

I'm looking forward to the next group of Casey, Schwarztel and Jimenez. I imagine I would follow this group around. Fingers crossed for a Casey surge!

You stay put and stuff yourself silly - send the Missus off for drinks and put your feet up.

Here's a challenge. See if you can count the number of putts on the 18th all day!!

I love a challenge me! I'll see how I get on. The missus has already been pottering around buying £3.50 cups of tea.

Most of the first tee shots have been pretty accurate. I haven't seen many people use a Driver. Just had James Morrison come over and chat to his brother at the first tee who happened to be next to us. The course looks delicious and it's fantastic seeing professional swings up close.

They seem to barely hit the ball as they swing so smoothly.

Is he on a school trip or something??!! :D
Perhaps collect some leaves and make a collage when you get home. :D

I would like to see you throw one of your sandwiches at Monty whilst he putts out on 18, you know he'll take it in good spirit and have a good old laugh about it. :D

(Or be careful of that knee when he has you frog marched out of there!!) :D

Any chance of popping up a few photos - presuming you have an iphone?

Also, say hello to my mate Graham who is there today - he is about 50 with a beard.

Snaphookedwedge I will look out for Graham. I have taken the majority of my photos on my digital camera, but I took a couple of quick snaps from the stand at the 18th.

Also, first group just came through - what happened to Dredge? 3 putts taken imurg ;)

I love how relaxed Jimnez is playing golf... he looks like he'll fall over if someone takes his putter away in that pic....

he's one player i wish could win a major as i always put money on him.

Projected cut line at lunchtime was +2, Westwood and Stenson were in for an anxious wait.

Big Slice, have you never heard of a zoom lens?

What do you think about the 18th? To me it doesn't seem to be working in that the guys are too far out after the drive to risk having a go in 2 so they're all laying up and the crowd just get to watch nothing but sand wedge approaches.
Shouldn't they have set it up to make the temptation to go for the green in 2 greater by maybe having the stream a bit further back or something? Visually it looks great but in order to create drama I think 18 needed to be a little easier to allow the gung-ho and those desperate for 4 to have a go in 2.
How are the crowd feeling watching 18?

Birdieman. I completely agree, me and the missus were just commenting on it in fact. Mainly because even if people do go for the green (with the pin placement today) nothing is holding the green and they slide down between the bunkers.

Personally I like how close the stream is, I think visually it looks fantastic. But you're right that very few people are going for it. I would bring the tee forward 20/30 yards to get people to slide it round the corner more and leave a shorter iron.

In defense to the person who asked if I was sat in a bunker, I have no zoom on my iPhone. I'm just pretty close x

Great photo's and doesn't the course look fantastic?
I personally quite like the 18th as it is. But agree that bringing the tee forward 30 yards or so would create a little more tension.
Most of the guys have decided to lay up before they've even got out of bed in the morning.
Make it more of a given that they are going to have a pop and watch the feathers fly.
;)
