Ha ha thats nuts but thanks for trying mate , ive been around the website myself or should i say ive bn trying understand it , its just a mate is interested in it , can sell it fairly right to him , just wana be able to tell him what the story is with the sub

Certainly all of the older Skycaddie models cannot be used if you do not pay the subscription and, in fact, if you then pay it late, it is backdated to when yours expired. Always seemed a bit off to me when they charge top end for the machine as well. To my mind they should either sell the GPS as a loss leader and make money off subscriptions or charge full whack for the GPS and then charge no subscription but not both. Always seemed to me that Skycaddie want to have their cake and eat it which is why I went for another brand.

You could have saved yourself a lot of hassle by letting someone else win ;)

First time I've ever looked at the Skycaddie site and I'm amazed at how unclear they are about the subscription but I found the small print for the Gimme (and it would appear the rest of the range.)

† Preloaded courses that include Basic Green information are FREE for 30 days.
* After 30 days, Basic Green information as well as Advanced Green and Course features requires one of several nominally-priced Annual Membership Plans.

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that if you did not renew your subscription your skycaddie would still work in that it would give you distances. And the courses you have on it stay on it. But you would not be able to download any new courses.

Thank you Robert, not my fault i was the least worst on the day :D:D as i say mate i have the Garmin and am keeping it , a mate is interested but i dont wana sell him a hassel either , he doesnt play much golf & if he got the 10 courses localy and they stayed on it without the sub it would suit him grand ..

Supose for €100 it would be worth a chance , i only see it priced on line at £169

POOBA PO PO

This is what i would be hoping HK , trying to get 100% confirmation of it tho from a Sky caddy user ,

Thanks for replys guys

I have a SGX but of course I renew before the expiry date. Having a quick look on tinternet there seems to be confusion, some say it will expire 3 weeks after the renewal date and you won't be able to access the GPS function, thus making it worthless. Some say you can only use the courses you have mapped yourself once your subscription has expired and some say you can continue using the courses you have downloaded on to your Skycaddie but won't be able to download any others. So chuff knows.

I suppose the other argument is that someone pays the subscription for a year. I know the principal sucks abit, but on the other hand if you play lots of golf, especially at a few different courses then £30 is not that bad value for a year. Not great, but not horrendous.

I gave my Skycaddie away recently. The access is denied when you don't pay the subscription. I didn't pay for a few months once and had to de register and re register so as not to pay for the months when I couldn't access it and didn't use it. Now use Garmin G3 and a Bushnell
