Sky On Demand

How? Just tried to download a film today, I pressed play but it doesn't respond. I had to stop the download, only then would it playback

Select the film you want and press select. The bottom left corner will change. Wait for a bit, usually 30secs depending on connection and it will say press select to view

That's how it works for me I thinks...

Found mine didn't work when I connected my skybox to my new ultra high speed virginmedia router, but when I put my old wifi box inbetween in series it worked perfectly. Bizarre but I now have two wifi signals to the same broadband but it now does what its supposed to.

I was having this problem yesteday - was expecting to be able to start watching after sufficiently had been downloaded into the buffering. But nope... However this might have been becuase it was so slow. I've also gone through the Sky+ HD settings to set the 'Notify me when download ready to watch' option to Yes (defaults to No).

Started downloading a film late afternoon today and I got the ready to view message less than 2mins after I started - and that's good enough for me.

Note that progs and films under the Showcase 'tab' are immediately available as they are all automatically downloaded onto your box - so Showcase is just like the old Anytime

+1

Does the type of box you have affect the downloaded film accessibility? (e.g. 1Tb box v standard HD box?)

I've been with you guys for 3-4 years. I have the first gen HD box. Any chance of getting the larger capacity box...FOR FREE?

Probably not. You will have received equipment for free when you joined. It will have had a cost associated to it relative to the current generation of boxes.
Unfortunately that's just how it goes. Staff don't even get free second boxes, nor do we get the reduced rate on a second HD box (we are charged £99 where a "normal" customer will be charged £49).
I bought a used 1TB box on ebay for £35 delivered. Job done.

Anyone on here who has Sky and is using (or trying to use) Sky On Demand?

After much pestering I got everything set up a couple of days ago to be able to use this 'service'. Is it just me or is it just a dog of a service with downloads taking hours - hardly 'on demand'.

One of the many reasons I switched to Virgin. I can watch all on demand including Sky on demand literally as it should be. Click the get from on demand button and voila it plays straight away, no downloading, no hanging about its literally what it says on the tin "On Demand"

I got a new box, new dish, new cabling, several call outs Lots of head scratching at Sky but they couldn't sort my problem so paid me hush money to go away, plus I always wangle a new discount every time the current one runs out.
