Sky coverage is rubbish more adverts than golf they would rather show woods on practice green than others on course. I'm sure there was more shots played in woods new shoe commercially than some sections of coverage between adverts. Impossible to get in to the tourn.ent. Before any one says I know it's really american coverage just venting my opinion

Show some balls, make a stand and cancel your subscription.

No golf, then you'll really have something to whinge about

This has been done over and over. You're right, it is pants, but it's down to the American feed. They should be ashamed at the coverage they provide, was watching one hole where Tiger and Scott both putted out, then they flashed up to the leader board just as Rory was going to putt, why couldn't they have shown his putt too? Not to mention that the leader board had only been up about a minute earlier. Another hole they show Tiger teeing off, then all three golfers start walking, no chance of seeing Scott or Rory drive then......

I'll bet SKY pay a fair few million for this feed, and the US TV are just useless at providing decent coverage, surely there must be enough that that countries that don't have the same level of ad breaks can have filler footage for those moments....?

As for cancelling my subscription, something I've been contemplating as ironically this is the first golf I've really watched since the masters, just not been that interested in watching the US rubbish .....

Didn't you read Radar Reilly's column in GM a couple of issues ago?? Sky can do no wrong. And Peter Allis is the devil incarnate. Apparently.

As the OP said, it is based on US coverage. I was in the US recently (and have been many times before) and watched the local CBS/NBC etc coverage, and if you think Sky is bad, you really don't want to see the US coverage.

It is made for the ADHD crowd, with no second of air left unfilled by blabber, advertising or nostalgia. Some segments pass without a shot from the tee or fairway, just a few putts, several leaderboards and a sponsored segment about getting out of the rough with Taylor Made.

The Sky coverage covers up a lot of this rubbish, so be thankful for what you get. OK, they could lose Monty and Roe and put in someone decent, but basically it is pretty good.

I found Rob Lee quite interesting when he was commentating, but really cannot stand Monty.

Excellent golfer with a fantastic career behind him, he is just an extremely miserable sod who just can't help but take a pop at Woods at every occasion!

Monty is terrible in the box IMO, he's not johnny Miller bad but not far off. The constant sniping at Tiger is annoying, saying his driving is terrible etc, erm news flash Monty he has never driven the ball mega straight, oh and he's won 14 Majors!

It can be tough to watch, but their hands are tied really. I do enjoy watching Dennis Pugh in the studio when they have a break in coverage though, he brightens up a very dull part of the show. Now if he would just prove he is human and s***k one through the window...

Agreed, Monty was going well OTT on Tiger's start last night. OK he missed the fairway on 1 but hit the green with a "terrible" shot. Then after he birdied the 2nd he made comment about his "awful" start. He is way too negative for my liking.

Think you'll find that Radar has said Alliss is a fantastic commentator in this month's column... maybe someone had a quiet word...

I liked it yesterday, thought it was decent coverage apart from the ESPN parts that repeated the score time and time again.

Monty was a bit annoying but liked his insight into the game but thought RobLee was really good and pretty fair with his comments.

It was always going to be the Tiger show once he tee'd off but there was some great coverage of all the players too.

I thought Sky did a good job also, especially as it isn' their fed they broadcast.

Agree with the comments on Monty so far. Some great insight into the game but far, far too negative.

Butch Harmon was his usual class self last night. I really enjoy Butchs' commentary when he's on.

Me too, thought/think they do a decent job with what they get.

Butch is great, some of his stories are great.

Can't help but think Monty's been drafted in as a balance to the normal Tigger love-in!

I dont think the coverage is ever to bad, at least we get to see some golf and you get used to it.

I just wish when its big events sky would give the option of commentators, as i quite like having Faldo on. I know not everyone likes him but i always think he gives a great insight to how the pro's do things and always has a good story to tell from his time out there.

When Monty is commentating I regularly wonder if he is watching the same as we are. It's obvious he has a dislike for Tiger as it takes an amazing shot and he's still not happy with it. It's not just Tiger he does it with either, he has a pop at any player he can whenever he can, it's almost embarrassing and to top it off he's never even won a major!
