With BT for our BB and happy with the service and speeds but not so with the price. Sky are offering a very good deal which would give us a Sky Q box , sky tv, Sports and Netflix for a steal compared to what we are paying BT now.
So any users care to share your experiences?
Cheers

We moved from TalkTalk to Sky broadband and so far no issues BUT there are a few things
  • At our house all providers use the same line so no performance improvements.
  • I used to get speed issues with the TalkTalk router which I don't seem to have with the Sky unit.
  • The Sky Q modern router is not great and only has two ethernet ports. Worse than the BT standard router.
  • The WiFi signal from the router is not great so I bought a Deco M5 mesh system which has transformed the WiFi in the house.
  • I've not had a need to comment on their customer service.

I commented on random irritations two days ago that it had been down for a few hours but apart from that it’s been great for nearly three years. Got two lads always playing online games and we watch a lot of Netflix and we have not had any problems

First outage from Sky broadband was the other night for a few hours. Apart from that, good. I bought a switch to go next to the Sky Q router for my Ethernet ports and Sky installed a mesh router to aid upstairs coverage.

No problems with Sky broadband here. Been with them for years. We can't get virgin.

Same here, only issue I've had is with the Sky Q router which is awful, plugged my old Sky router back in and all is fine. Customer services have been excellent when I've needed support and they always do a decent deal when your contract is up.

I was with Sky broadband for a couple of years up until last year, didn't really have any problems that I can recall.
Only reason I changed was price.
Am now with Vodafone bb as they do a deal for mobile customers, saves me a few quid.
No real problems with that either, pretty constant speeds and no reason to call customer services as yet.

Have had no issues with our sky broadband (high speed); and only a handful of times in over a year had sky Q hang on me but easily sorted; and have no wireless connectivity strength issues in the house and can pick up router from garden studio 20m+ from house - though as signal is weak at that distance I use TPS power link for connectivity. I have no idea whether what we have is relatively good or bad - but what we have is plenty good enough for us and I have not once (yet touch wood) had to contact Sky for technical support.

Too rural for Virgin , what problems have you had Stu ?

When my lad is on his gaming console the WiFi is gerally poor that we turn off the WiFi on our mobiles and use data.

I can't stream stuff downstairs and he play on his console at the same time, just buffers no end.

I was onto sky and done the line/speed tests and we're getting the best we can around about 12meg.They tried to sell us Sky Q for an extra £11per month as apparently the Q boxes act as a WiFi box too so while it wouldn't improve the speed, it *should* improve the WiFi connection.

I've jibbed it and waiting for Virgin instead.

I often switch providers between BT and Sky. I'm currently with Sky but their coverage didnt extend as far with their newer router than when I was with them before. They did send me an extender foc recently but when my contract is up for renewal I'll probably move to another provider.

I think it's a common problem with the routers from the BB suppliers. They're never as good as the ones from the main equipment manufacturers. Our broadband comes in at 35mbps irrespective of the provider as it all comes down the same OpenReach line. It's how the router behaves that makes the difference. That's why I went for the TP Link Deco M5 mesh system. It really has transformed the coverage in the house.
Also the customer service and backup is important and the one from Talk talk is shocking. I've never had to try the Sky customer service so I can't comment on it.

Smart hub 2, it's in box they sent it in.
Didn't get that great a write up on the BT forums.

I have the HUB 5 the only complaint comes from my daughter but she will not believe me when I show her it is her phone. Typical Apple known for throttling back performance.

I used the HUB 2 for a while when I was on Talk Talk think I remember switching it for a bought Belkin. Talk Talk would not supply a replacement for a failed one and was a major factor in my ditching them.
