Its a strange one isn't it. If i'm on my own and look like catching up with the tail end of a comp in front, I'll hang back. I wouldn't want to interrupt anyone's concentration by tailgating them for several holes. If there's someone behind me then i'll join up with them or possibly even walk back to the first and play the front 6 again..

It was an observation. If it had been a group of middle aged or mid twenty golfers I'd have said exactly the same. Get over it

Interesting take, I'm a bit too impatient to hang back but if someone behind or infront is willing to let me join then that's perfect!
