My game since the end of last season has been extremely disappointing and frustratingly average. Just not scoring well and throwing in 2/3 doubles every round. Handicap creeping up steadliy to the point of teetering on going up to 6

But a couple of weeks ago I shot a 74 gr in a medal for a 0.3 cut , relief to have some breathing space but another couple of 0.1's in the last week and the same old story. However yesterdays medal was a strange affair tbh , no expectations but I like to play all the comps I can (just in case ;))

Started birdie, bogie, par and then had to hit a left handed shot away from a tree sideways but it was a par5 and managed to get up and down from 95 yards for par. Anyway pushed my tee shot at the 6th into the doodoo and after a series of calamitous decisions and shots etc ended up with a triple :(

Now on recent form that would be the end of it for me and i'd slip away quietly and shoot 8 or 9 over but something clicked and 3 birdies and 3 bogies later I signed for 75/70 and with the triple i'm expecting another 0.3 cut.

Anyhow it seems that my game is starting to return and i'm actually looking forward to golf again , whereas i've talked long and hard with HID about jacking it in this year. The Golfing Gods have just shown me enough to keep me interested in playing a little longer...damn them :D

Sounds familiar.

I took 7 years away from the game and believe me.... I wish I hadn't. Get on the practice ground if you need to get some consistency back you lazy fecker ;)

Regards..... :)

P.S How you getting on with your new driver? Using it?

Hell yes i'm using it :D

I've definitely been getting more length off the tee with it , no question. More importantly i'm starting to develop some control too. Its been about 3 weeks now and i've played a few courses so new challenges and holes not played before.

I'm trying to hit a nice gently fade with a lower trajectory to get it to run along and boy it just eats up the yards. I've also been trying out the nice high draw too and although still a work in progress the signs are there that this is going to be a very versatile driver and one that wont be leaving the bag for quite a few years. The big thing i've noticed tbh is that into the wind there doesnt seem to be any lack of distance it just bores into it and keeps going , very handy I can tell you.

those golfing gods - they do it every time but well done on getting it back.
Feeling a bit more optimistic myself after a v. poor run since Spring. Probably means those gods are moving over and preparing to teach me yet another lesson.
One consolation - even the pros seem to get their share of suffering though probably softened by size of bank account. Me, I'm happy with £3.50 winnings on a Saturday roll-up. Or is it time to risk the side bet?
