Should Robert Rock's Caddy be Stopped...

How many shots better do you EXPECT your handicap to be by the end of 2010?

From lining up his putts in the manner he does?

Not Bob bashing here as he is supposed to be a nice guy and the rest of his game is seemingly pretty good. But is he really that bad a putter that he needs lined up (in that manner) from 3ft?

Also the caddy when he lies down could be changing the characteristics of the green by changing the nap(like what a snooker table has) of the grass?

It should be banned throughout the professional game. I'm not convinced about damaging the green but it is causing another problem in terms of pace of play waiting for the caddy to inspect the line, debate with the player and line him up correctly. It must add at least 20 minutes to a rounds

What did they do when the were kids, did they have caddies when they were out for a knock then too? I think it is awful and send a poor message to youngsters! Also, the women are by far worse than the blokes, I watched an lpga event and it chrisie kerr 10 mins to pick a club!! it aint shoe shopping, then her caddy lined her up for the iron, then the putt! jokers!!

As long as it is within the rules of the game then there is no reason to stop what he does. What needs to be changed is he rules to prevent any caddy lining up shots, not only on the green as Rober Rock's caddy does, but also on the fairway as happens in the Ladies game.

I have no problem with it as long as they do not take much time about it. And to be fair at the Irish open 2 years ago (where I watched Rock get 2nd) he took no longer than any one else - it gust looked like a peacock dance.

Clive, it may be within the rules but it is not in the spirit of the game. If every pro did that we would have 6 hour rounds.

Is it any different to me asking my partner in a club doubles competition for confirmation of a line? Is it any different to discussing with him the amount of break, speed, his thoughts???

I have to agree if it's not against the rules then it's allowed.

I can't say a word having been lined up for every putt at Cooden Beach by Pieman and JustOne. Mind you, I'm a 16 handicapper, not a pro.

You'd think by the time you get on tour, you'd have a rough idea about reading lines and putting (except Tiger!)?!? ;)

To me caddies should be banned give them a gps and an electric trolley and let them go, I beleive that linning yourself up should be part of the skill set you should have to be on tour.

it wont happen, but now you say it, thats a great idea. its not a team sport.

I don't mind them lining up the shots but laying on the green shouldn't be allowed in case they damage the green for the groups behind.
