Shorter driver shaft?

Also, a 3 wood shaft will only be about 43 inches, so that's quite a lot shorter than a typical driver shaft which would be 45-46. Even when they talk about pros going with a shorter shaft it's normally 44 ish?

Slightly annoying that when I did my fitting last year, a shorter shaft was never brought up at all as an option. But then I'm 6 foot so maybe it didn't occur to him - or because 99% of his customers just want more distance with driver.
I think mine's 43.5" but the next longest in my bag is my 4-hybrid at 40" so I guess it doesn't feel weirdly short to me. If I used a 3-wood it might feel stranger.
I'm 6'2" and my irons are all +0.5" so I doubt any fitter would normally suggest it for me either.

The lie angle on your irons dictates the length of shaft and are more important than driver.
Irons are as long as they are to set the club at impact.

But driver the balls off the ground on a tee so lie angle isn’t as important as irons so even taller guys can have a shorter shaft.

If it works it’s right!
I’m tempted by the new PXG mini driver.

When I used to do alot of fitting (a while ago now) I would often put a shorter shaft into a driver without telling the golfer. As there numbers improved on the trackman they would get excited but almost without fail would not accept it as a fitting as they didn’t want a shorter shaft.
The old ego was more important than the result.
Even when you made the tiger woods point someone made above.
It’s a weird game.

when i was having a problem with the driver a few years ado i tried a shorter shaft, i was just as wayward now just shorter.

the key for me was sorting the problem, not what i thought was a quick fix

Depending on height, proportions, swing style, surely such a fundamental parameter as shaft length is not a one size fits all. Shorter shaft might be exactly what IS needed in this case, and so its not just a quick fix in a trivial sense, but a quick fix in indeed the correct direction. Only a skilled fitter slash pro who knows your swing would be truly able to say whether its a positive modification, or not solving another issue that will still be there. I would advise go to a good teaching pro. If he thinks a shorter shaft would help, he will say so. Then he, or a specialist fitter can measure you to see whats really needed.
