i am due to travel to florida next week and i hope to buy some golf gear.
last time there i visted a wal mart store and noticed they sold golf balls from the main companys but some of the model names were diffrent.
has anyone tryed these as the prices are a lot cheaper.

I bought some Srixon softeels whilst I was there a couple of months back. Good prices indeed. They did have a couple of Srixon boxes I hadn't come across. I was happy with the softfeels though so didn't bother trying the others.

Find yourself a great big shopping mall with a Izod shop in it. The quality of their merchandise is first class and at silly prices compared to what you would buy in the UK.

I holiday in the USA quite often and its the one day I dont mind going shopping with the good lady. This year, as usual spent twice as much as I was planning, but do I look smart.

This.

There's an Outlet centre just north of Seattle with an Izod shop. I picked up a pair of izod trousers for £12 as they were on sale. I wanted another couple of pairs but they only had one in my size.

There should be loads of golf stores in Florida.

Instead of just sticking to Wal-mart, look out for a GolfSmith, PGA Superstore, Edwin Watts and Golf Galaxy, these are all like American Golf or Nevada Bobs on steroids.

Also assume you know the drill as you have been there before, but look out for coupons. In the US its extremely common for stores to give out discount coupons. Either keep an eye out for the flyer type, or go to the websites of some of the above brands and sign up for their marketing spam - maybe use an alternaltive email address, so you don't suffer it all the time.

Edwin Watts was my go to store when I visited my Uncle in Orlando in the past. Even 12 years ago they had the driving bays that have the screens that you hit into with a simulated golf course.

Like surefire said, they're like AG/NB's on steroids. The exchange rate doesn't help these days but you might still pick up a good deal.

Edwin Watts on Turkey Lake Road in Orlando is a great store and I will be visiting it on a forthcoming trip to Orlando. Much much better than any AG or NB. The staff there are knowledgeable about equipment and want to get the right stuff for you rather than just sell you something quick.

I've been to the GolfSmith in West Palm Beach. Great shop, and has the bays with the launch monitors to try the clubs out in.

They are also open to haggling, especially if picking up a lot of stuff.

Have been in this store miles better than AG or NB ,the R9 had just come out so i wanted a hit with one in the bays the guy was really helpful, got chatting to him and he said he'd sold more than 20 that morning and not 1 person had asked to try it and everyone was 9.5 stiff straight of the shelf, oohh those macho Yanks.

Get yourself down to the oulet at Lake Beuna Vista they've everything there ,i got 2 pairs of Y3 trainers which are £200 here for $62 each, the place was full of brits hoovering them up

was in Florida in June, and even with the exchange rate there are still bargains to be had.

Found Edwin Watts on I-Drive (near the Pizza Hut) to be great for shoes, All major brands were probably 30% cheaper than here.

Best shop by far was the PGA store in Naples. OH MY GOD. was the size of a good Toys R us and had 12 indoor bays, putting green and indoor bunkers!!! never seen a store like it in my life, had every range of every brand. I had a ball fitting session in there, and it was a great experience. I spent a fortune in there, but saved a packet. Found Nike One Vapor balls at $15, and my fitting recommended Topflite Game v2 balls. After falling around laughing, found them to be very similar ( ;-) ) to Callaway HX Hot balls, and was only $12. decent winter balls.

In general, found clubs to be similar price to the UK, but clothing, balls and accessories to be decent value, even with the current exchange rate.

Wish I could be back there now to be honest!
