Shell profits up and up and up and up.

What really bugs me about fuel / energy prices is that the actual costs of producing the stuff havnt changed much at all. yet prices are rising

Unfortunately the supply of the raw materials are controlled by the commodities market, and a small group of speculators who make bets of whats going up and whats going down.

Political issues, The weather and did the trader get off last night all influence the price and we are being held to ransom by these parasites.

The whole commodoties market needs abolishing, and replacing by fixed price mechanism. oil and gas need prices need halving. and the government need to stop loading taxes onto petrol.

This will put some cash into peoples hands which they will then spend, so the government will still get its cut through the VAT scheme.

Just been on Uswitch and swapped from British gas to Eon for our gas and electric and saved about £30 a month and a 2% discount on their standard tarrif for a year. Just switched home and contents insurance from AA to Co-op and saved £197. Now is the time to put a bit of effort in and see what is out there especially as the other utility company's are bound to follow at some point and raise prices

Did you fix your tarrif with EON or are you floating?

If floating you will be in the same boat when EON put up their prices,

I'm not sure I see the problem here. They are a business, the sole purpose of their existence is to make money, and thats what they are doing.

If you don't like that, sell your car and use a bike, train, bus, shoe leather etc...

Or buy shares in them and benefit from the huge profits.
