Right, bit of a stupid question i think but i have a Ping G10 driver and hybrid both with standard stiff shafts.

I'm looking at getting a 3 wood and have been offered off a mate his G10 3 wood but it has a V2 stiff shaft in it.

Would this matter having different shafts throughout my woods/hybrids??

Not at all,Both my woods are different makes so have different shafts it doesn't make any difference to my game. I wouldn't worry about it.

Cheers drawboy, i will give it a bash if this friggin snow clears!

However, the standard Ping TFC and the UST V2 are rather different beasts. As mentioned in just about every thread that discusses shaft flex, the fact they both say 'stiff' on them does not make them comparable. Some players find that the V2 is a lot of shaft to handle.

Stuart - how far do you hit your driver? Average carry through the air.

Without measuring it with a gps i would say 200+ easy.

Thanks, driver distance can help with a general idea of how a shaft might fit, but proper fitting is better.

I would say that if you don't carry the ball 230-240, you might struggle with a UST V2 stiff flex, even a 65g. The standard Ping shaft, even in stiff, is much less demanding.

it`s quite simple ..take out ur mate`s 3 wood and try it ,if u hit it well that`s fine- does the shaft flex really matter if u hit the club well-i think not !i think to many of us on here worry about shaft flex ..

I'm really consistant with my driver and hybrid tbh and i play with stiff shafts throughout my set, so i don't think my swingspeed is a problem.

The problem i have is when i went to try a 3wood G10 i was told by the ping rep that the G10 range have been taken off shelves because of the all new super duper G15 range are on sale.

In AG and the few pro shops i've been in there have been no G10 3 woods knocking about that i could try.
There are a few 2nd hand ones on ebay and the likes but i want to see it fly before i buy.

I'm going to take my mate's one out and try it, Then i'll know if i'm fast enough for it ;)

My point is that one stiff shaft does not necessarily compare to another, and even if you can handle one, the other might have different playing characteristics, and not just flex.

The UST V2 is a pretty firm shaft with a low-mid flight, the Ping is fairly soft with a mid-high flight.

Thanks for your advice Ethan.

I will try it and see how it goes on course.
