Serving Visitors to the Clubhouse

So if you are a visitor to a 'members' golf club playing a bounce game but were not signed in by a member, then technically you can't have any ale?

it's covered by a separate addendum to the bye law, you can but subject to payment of your green fee, and only on the day of your visit to the course. So effectively, for ale purposes, you become a temporary member for the day.

...and reciprocals where your round is free?

What about social members that pay an annual fee to use the facilities, it's a bit unfair on them if Joe Public can walk in and have a drink?

yep open to public but alas our catering is bobbins since the excellent chef has been replaced! We used to have welcome to anyone functions and meal nights but not anymore :(

Hopefully the club will get someone decent onboard soon and start to bring the public back in again as we miss their money if you know what I mean!

Social member will get a discount on food and drink

True but the numbers don't really stack up. I pay £90 a year at Broadstone and get 10% discount so I have to spend in excess of £900 a year before I'm better off than someone walking in off the street

Each club will have to make that decision. Many have a low social membership charge and so the card discount makes it worthwhile. In your case, D4S, it would not. Does your club strictly enforce its members only policy?
