Seniors, why is it..........

Since I (sort of) retired I don't go off in Sunday comps at 8am

No, I'm often not out now till the 8.20 slot!

.........you spend your whole working life dragging yourself out of bed in the morning just in time to get to work without being late.
But after you retire, you're up at daft o'clock and knocking on the pro shop door at 7.10 wanting your buggy when the sign clearly says the shop doesn't open till 07.30?

Suggest a shake up of membership . Seniors discount not valid before 10am

Then they will tee off later lol

Most seniors at my place are on a 5 day membership deal, so pay less. At other clubs members get a discount if they have been a member for a certain period of consecutive years, only likely if you are a senior. It's a running joke at most clubs I have played at that the busiest membership section are the seniors who also pay the lowest fees, juniors excepted.

Since retiring I normally wake between 8 and 9, unless I have an earlyish tee time, but there are the same groups at our club who are always out first think during the week.

I wonder why our Seniors play moat days in the week, but still turn out in force on a Saturday Morning when the folk who work all week are playing?

Hopefully, I'll find out soon!

Let me read this right, because they play most days during the week, are you suggesting they don't play because you've been working all week. Or should they take Saturday off..? You do have a question mark there.

TBH take away the seniors and quite a few clubs would fold.

No, I am wondering why they would chose to play at the busiest time of the week, when they don't have to. I can't see me playing at 8-30 on a Saturday when I retire... just a personal view though.

No club could tell a 7 day full member when they can or cant play... that's daft

Thats one thing my father always says to me.. "I dont play weekends I like to leave the course free for people who cant play in the week" he always has Sunday & monday off work so monday is his golf day

Ive stuck with that , I get 5 out of 7 weekends off but cant remember the last time I played at a weekend.. always play during the week, let the people who can only play weekends play then

Used to be the other way round for me. When I worked I wanted to get a round in before going to work so on the course 7.30 to 8.00 in the morning. Now I no longer work I prefer playing at 11am no rushing leisurely drive to course an hours chat in the lounge with the mates before going out to play.

Benefits to playing at that time -it's warmer in winter, any frost has usually gone form the course, if the course was on temps at the start of the day they have normally gone back to normal greens by 11.

I still play at weekend because I play in a different group of friends many of whom only play on a Saturday and mixed games are usually on Sundays.

Up at 5.30 every morning for work and usually the same to get up to the club in time for a warm up and a coffee before the roll ups. Looking forward to a lie in until 6.30 for Sunningdale and New Zealand

The old guys play ridiculously early at our place during the weekends.

You need seniors though to lecture us younger ones on how much harder golf used to be and put us in our place.
