Hi, assuming there is one can someone please tell me what the handicap adjustment would be for a senior to play from men's tee in a comp
Senior sss is 69
Mens sss is 71

Thanks

I'm not recognising the distinction between a senior SSS and a men's SSS. Are they playing from different tees? If so, they are in effect playing different courses with the different SSS. . In medal play, anyone playing the course with the higher SSS gets an allowance equal to the difference between the two SSS - in this case +2. . Stableford is slight more complicated. It's alll explained in Appendix O of the CONGU Manual.

By the way, I'm a senior and still feel quite manly ...... in a modified sort of. way. :)

Assuming you are playing to the CONGU handicap system, providing all players in the comp are playing from the same tees, there is no adjustment made.
Handicaps are independent of the tees a player 'normally' plays.
Only if different players play from different tees in the same comp, is there an adjustment (as described above by Colin).

The USGA system is rather different.

Providing, of course, that all players are of the same gender.

I know some courses have forward tees used for juniors and or some seniors. However, these aren't usually a measured course and hence don't have a formal SSS. Thus not sure what a Senior SSS is.

As a matter of interest in assessing courses for the USGA slope ratings I have never assessed any of these forward tees has you have to have a formal measurement.

Or have I missed something?

Sorry should have been clearer
The senior has his handicap based on playing the senior tees but would move back a tee box to take part in a medal comp from the men's tees
Am I reading it for congu as he gets an extra 2 shots?

I think you are misunderstanding the CONGU system. Handicaps are not based on playing any particular tees. The handicap is the handicap.

If all players in a competition play from the same tees (regardless of which course or tees they play normally), they all play with their normal CONGU handicap.

However, if in a competition, some players are playing off different tees, the handicaps of players have to be adjusted to compensate those playing off the more difficult tees as shown by the difference in the SSS.

In this case he is playing off the same tees as everyone else so there is no adjustment necessary.
If he alone had been playing off the 'senior tees', everyone else would get two extra strokes.

No, if all their qualifying rounds have so far been played from the senior tee's then the SSS of those tee's will have been taken into account when calculating their handicap. So has rulefan days ad long as all players are playing from the same days no adjustment is necessary unless you have players of different genders playing in the competition.
