So the sun has finally decided to show its face in t'Yorkshire, the ground is no longer resembling the worst days of Passchendale and the clubs are positively jangling in the bag with their eagerness to be played with...

...and I'm sat on the sofa with my leg raised in an attempt to get my ankle looking like an ankle again and not like that which one would expect to see on a 20st council estate doler.

Gyms are meant to be places where you improve your physical shape, not knacker it. This is all due to an accident suffered in the gym on Thursday night involving some free weights, a step and some calf raises. The person who decided that a step needed to be in 3 parts for increased versatility can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned after the bloody thing decided to separate mid-raise and send me all over the shop. Being an unsupervised gym and in on my own caused some difficulties I should say and how I managed to drive home and not pass out I'm still not quite sure...

Anyway, feeling sorry for myself not because of the pain and discomfort (which are most notable) but because at only the 1st 48 hours, I still don't know how bad this sprain is and how long I'll be unable to play golf for.

Rest assured, the moment the ankle is ready, the weather will turn! So for all those playing this weekend - enjoy it no matter how badly you play 'cos it still beats being laid up!

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I will not call it an accident.
I am another one trying to get fit for our game. The thing is, at my age, I do not think I would grace a gym. I do my workouts in front of the TV with the blind down so nobody can laugh at my antics. Sky channel 282 has a programme for women and old farts like me and there is no one to injure me except for myself.
I hope your injury is not too serious and you are back playing golf really soon.

Harsh mate. That's why you'll never see me in a gym. I'm happy to be the before shot in the advert if it means I don't run the risk of actually doing something physical much less run the risk of getting injured. Hope it gets better soon. Not that its any comfort but I'm a fetching shade of red where I got badly burned playing today

Calf raises should be done in a smith machine! Just squat ass to ground that will hit you're calves too:) get well soon though bud!

Thanks for the thoughts, although I'm not sure about the Claims Direct suggestion!

Homer, I would love to sympathise with your sunburn but as you got it on the course, it appears my well is somewhat dry!

Slowly getting better (and much, much purplier) so we shall see how long I'm out for. If it starts raining, you know I'm ready!
