Hows your golfing year going?
For me it's been a decent start.

5 comps played: 2 wins, 2 buffers and a brutal RO comp.....and 170 in cash :-)

Not too bad a start to the season, although only played in 2 major comps, one win and one second place. Handicap cut from 15.6 to 14.1

Played in a few club matches and been on holiday so not played a comp since 3rd May, looking forward to getting back into it this weekend.

Rubbish, injury & illness have restricted me to 4 competitions, with 0.1 back for each.

Frustrating but moving in the right direction. After my first comp (+0.1) I went for a lesson, I've had two now. Ball striking, flight etc is far better when it works, when it doesn't you'd swear I'd never played before. I've played 4 comps (and two matchplay games with similar outcomes as this).

Comp 1. Nett 72. Drove ok, Irons good, not sharp enough around/on the greens
Comp 2: 36 points. Drove great, irons awful, not bad around greens.
Comp 3. 37 points. Drove great, irons ok, ok round greens, heavens opened on the 9th and stayed open, everything was wet from the 11th so it was a hard-fought 37.
Comp 4. Nett 72. 4 bad drives each punished appropriately, irons good, good round greens.

So yeah, frustrating!!! Trying to stay patient, it'll all come together soon, got to stick with the swing changes.

Surely?!

Started the season at 13.2 and now off 12.1.
Won a monthly medal.
Currently 5th in the order of merit.

Slightly unrelated but did a quick comparison of the stats and upto the start of the season my birdie percentage was 5% but this season its upto 10% however my double bogey or worse percentage has gone up to 23% from 20%. Par and bogey percentage have stayed around the 35% mark each. Not really sure if that information has any use to be fair.

No comps, playing out of my skin, dropped away for a few weeks and back to playing out of my skin and loving it!!

7 comps, with 6 buffers and one 0.1
2 pairs comps knocked out and 3 singles and knocked out of two of those.
Moray and Nairn League, won one, lost one.

Won the Lombard qualifying medal.
Been cut 4 shots.
No 0.1s.
Knocked out of the 4bbb matchplay in the first round :(

So apart from that matchplay blip (all 4players were under handicap, it was some match!), all in all a pretty damn good start.

3 comps, 2 0.1 and a buffer. We just don't have many comps!

That said, I am playing the worst golf I have ever played currently. I don't think I'd break 90 off the proper tees.

Not bad

Won a few society meets

Few buffers couple of cuts and couple of .1's

And winning Captains Day

Played 6 comps I think, won one of the medals, one buffer and 4 0.1s back. Lost the winter pairs final but still in both the pairs and singles for summer (albeit got very tough draws in the next round of both!)

As for the main indicators as to a good season Im currently all in 1 piece (touch wood) and Ive managed to get to some nice courses recently with plenty more on the list. So far this yr the pick of the "away" courses have been Centurion, Brocket Hall (Palmerston) and Brampton Park (its keeping quite high company there!). On the upcoming list are; Brocket Hall (Melbourne), Woburn (Duchess), Girton and/or Bourn, Studley Wood (my old home club), North Warwickshire, John O Gaunt, Collingtree Park and hopefully Northampton County. No doubt more will be added as the year progresses :)

Poor in the sense that I have barely played any 'proper' golf. Been out quite a few evenings for 9 holes or so once the kids are in bed but have only played 2 comps and one family grudge match.

On the other side, I've played reasonably well when I've played. Had 0.1 back and a 0.4 cut and, most importantly, the family grudge match finished all square.

5 club comps, 0.1 then 2, 1.2 cuts, then 2 buffers....

Won first round club matchplay. (second round tomorrow!!)

Lost first GM NW OOM match.

Striking the ball better than ever this month.. Concentrate for the 'whole' round and I will shoot sub 90 and get another cut..;)
