Im watching the 7s from vegas. Heck, even in 7s, they don't feed the ball in straight. This really bugs me. You almost never see a scrum against the head, as the ball is fed straight to the second row, or in 7s, straight out the back door. It can't be that hard to refferee, there are rules in place. Scrap the crouch, touch, pause, engage rubbish, just set the scrum, and no pushing til the ball comes in. And when it comes in, it comes in straight. Like it used to.

I hate it! If the ref pings the first couple then the scumhalves would feed straight for the rest of the game. Penalise a skew feed and if they do it again then yellow card the little gits! That'll learn them

The scrum has become a joke.

Not quite as much of a joke as a Rugby League scrum though....

They might as well just give the ball to whoever is awarded the scrum but let the opposition be only a yard away, take a tap and get on with it again....

Totally agree, the scrum feed is a joke. As a dedicated front row player it saddens me to see these skills being lost. There was nothing better than getting a strike against the head, I even played with hookers who could get the ball out of an opposition second row.

Bring back propper scrumaging.

Do hookers even bother to "strike" for the ball anymore? Used to be a key part of the game.

The game has changed so much since it turned professional. I also miss 11 stone wingers, 14 stone hookers and pint sized scrum halves who were brain surgeons, teachers and farmers 6 days a week. That was proper rugby.

Saw an article on the size of the Welsh backs and the wingers are about the same size as Willie-John and the Broon frae Troon.

Totally agree with the sentiments voiced. Good old fashioned scrummaging has gone from the game and it seems its a law that is conveniently overlooked by refs when in fact it should be glaringly obvious if the ball has been fed and penalised accordingly

you dont really see the smaller players no more. to be fair right through the 15 they are all units! ok the probs are bigger and have cauli ears but the backs are still big boys.
Back when i was in school and we played rugby the scrum was always a rough place to be where ud end up with a cuff or at least your shins scraped at the minimum I always stuck to inside centre close enough to the action but far enough from the bigger boys not to get hurt haha

Totally agree, and sort out the bl00dy lifting in the line outs. There's guys hovering about 12 foot up in the air for 5mins...

all of the above is true, but doesn't explain how we managed to lose one against the head on Saturday. Did we forget to chuck it in the second row?

I'm not sure how you solve it but reset scrums are a real blight on rugby at moment. It's almost tempting to nip out and put the kettle on as it will probably take a couple of minutes to get the ball back into play.

I agree, all this touch, pause ,engage then pile in and collapse stuff drives me mad. What was wrong with setting the scrum, feeding the ball in straight then pushing and hooking for possession. Agree with stopping this lifting in the line as well, its not the way the game was designed to be played. On top of all this I get so miffed with the way they spend 10 minutes fighting for possession then just hoof it up the middle into the oppositions arms. What's all that about.

Careful, you might embolden the league set to have a whinge about union. I hear 'that kick and clap nonsense. Leagues t' greatest gamne in't world nearly every day. It's not even the greatest game in the M62 corridor because Golf, Rugby Union and Cricket are way better...:whoo:

I look forward to Super Rugby every year. Best franchise teams from the Southern Hemisphere playing the game at pace with loads of flair and skill. Come on the SHARKS
