Scottish guys dig up the pitch again.

Love the headline on the BBC Sport website today - "Scottish World Cup hopes over". No that actually happened the day the draw was made and they were entered into it.

It's an old headline, it appeared prior to the 2002 WC, they just cut and paste it every 4 years, they have a similar European Championships one too

I think you need reminding of 1974 and 1978 when only 16 teams went to the World Cup including Scotland. Where were England?:mmm:
The phoenix will rise from the ashes again....and if it doesn't who cares? - international football is a dead duck, it's been taken over by mega rich European clubs where the standard is higher than internationals and ruined further by people like Blatter/Platini with tournaments in Qatar, Euopean championships with no tournament base and such like. Those England and Scotland games on tv yesterday looked like League 1 games with quagmire pitches, tiny crowds, poor play, bad camera angles etc.

I'm starting to sound like Ron Manager......when I was a lad....blah blah....jumpers for goalposts....17-12.....etc etc.:fore:

The pitch England played on was ok to be honest, and Montenegro has a population of about 625,000 so a 12,000 crowd isn't that bad

Suppose so but it all looks a bit naff, give me CL Juve v Barca any time over these WC qualifying games.

1990 Costa Rica - I laughed so hard I shat myself ;-)

I am a football fan and to be honest want all the home nations to do well but I'm afraid the way my side (England) play and how every side is the new golden generation (over hyped and under achievers) it is now club over country for me even though I support Fulham. Don't get me wrong if England qualify I'll love to see us to do well. Sadly I can't realistically see any of the other nations getting there this time. Maybe the Euros will be when it changes. Wales and Scotland have some quality young players coming through but I think they need to appoint someone who can mould these. I'm unconvinced the current incumbents are capable

Its not football as we know it captain.

Well when France knocked you out with 2 late Zidane goals in Euro 2004 I didn't laugh hard but it did make me chuckle a little, I have to be honest.;)

Which is exactly how sport should be - you can laugh at other disliked team's misfortunes and celebrate your own successes. I remember playing at St.Andrews in 2006 and having one of the local caddies tell me he knew every word of "Flower of Portugal".
