Hello,

I've arranged a golf weekend away with 7 friends, which we're starting to make an annual event, but we never have a good scoring system in place. We usually play 3-4 rounds and mix it up a bit with stableford, foursomes and stroke play.

We've done home-made systems like stableford score plus 3 points each for cloest to the pin / longest drive, but nothing really works, or sticks.

Does anybody have any clever scoring ideas for holidays such as this? And if the scoring system can then produce an ongoing 'order of merit' type score for next year that would be brilliant.

Would love to hear anyones thoughts.

We do similar since 2000.

Basically if your group is mid handicappers ie 10-20 then stableford is the way to go.

We usually have a round of Bogey golf just to firm up the handicaps, then 2-3 scoring rounds of Stableford.

Final round is lowest to highest scorings going out in that order.

Have fun

kind of, but it's a very flexible thing.
I think some events have been booked in as 'GM xxxxx' but I think you would have to ask Mike's permission to use the name first.
