Currently got a set of Callaway XR OS irons but unfortunately I don’t have the sand wedge.

The irons are around 1 inch longer in length & I am struggling to get an exact match in terms of the sand wedge so I was considering getting a Callaway Mack Daddy or something to have instead of the sand wedge - I was just wondering is this sensible & what degree of loft & bounce & lie angle should I pick to replicate the sand wedge ? Thanks

There is no reason why a SW has to match the rest of the set.

If you buy speciality wedges they will virtually always come with wedge flex shaft unless another deliberately requested.

The bounce should suit the sand where you play, deep fluffy sand go high bounce hard thin hardpan sand go with low bounce ( or forget using a SW anyway)

Loft should be at least 54 for general sand play a lot of players these days use 58/60.

If you are buying a speciality wedge new there is no reason why you cannot order plus 1 inch.

I have a Vokey SM6 58 degree K grind, which has 12 degrees of bounce. The reviews said that it was great for bunkers and it is ... I now very rarely fail to exit a bunker ... even got out a tall pot bunker recently. I would recommend having a look at one.

Plenty of specialist wedges out there, which I think look far better than the usual SW's you get in a standard set. If you need it extended, it's a simple thing for a club pro or fitter to do. Vokey are the market leader, Cleveland do great wedges and the Mack Daddy will compliment your set (but I find them heavy but that's a personal viewpoint)
