so I am looking out for a sand wedge as my Yonex cyberstar 56 degree looks huge and horrid at address and I just dont feel comfortable using it

I can get the matching one for my irons Nike VR full cavity 4-pw but will have nike sv tour 52 gw and 60 lw wedges also

should I go for the full cavity sw or a nike sv 56 degree?

The reason I ask is it will be an online purchase and I have no way to test the actual full cavity sw in the flesh before buying

what do you use wedge wise with pw then sw?

I have the Cally RazrXTour to PW then Vokeys from Gw to Lw
Most SW's tath come with sets or match sets of irons are huge and unwieldy.
That said they will probably work ok - just look wrong!

As the PW in my set is really a 9 iron it isn't really a wedge so my wedges start at 50 degrees and to my mind it's best to match your wedges as much as possible.

Personally I don't see the need for any sort of cavity SW. Most of ones you get off the shelf (not as part of a set) are bladed in appearance. As you rarely hit anything like a full shot with these clubs there isn't the need for a huge amount of forgiveness. These are finesse clubs and the bladed set up is much more suited for bunker shots and chips. The key is to marry the loft and bounce to your course and the firmness and depth of the sand. Hard to do buying online which is why I will always try before I buy and never go straight off the web for clubs.

I have a few sets of shovel-like irons in my collection. I don't use any of the wedges from them.
In fact, my prized Mizuno tour wedge which was retired last year after a decade of service (it was knackered) was bought simply to escape the bulky-shovel-club-thing around the greens. I hit the odd full SW, but mostly it's not about needing forgiveness or getting the ball up, it's about using something that looks/sits/feels like an accuracy instrument, not some unwieldy monster iron.

Just done a reversal in terms of wedges.

A few months back struggling out of the sand I dropped my (new at the time) burner SW that came with my set and used my 58 deg Vokey out of sand. I have been getting out every time but struggling getting the ball any appreciable distance at all - if I did do a bigger swing I usually ended up digging in the sand too hard and duffing it or blading it and hitting the lip or going through the green into some nasty stuff behind. So I had been keeping the swing fairly steady just to ensure I was out and had hot to play next time. However this has cost me a fair few shots when I think I should have been putting next time round and ended on the fringe at best.

Had a lesson on bunker play with the pro recently and he asked me to bring my SW to check it out. During the lesson I used both and we concluded that with a bit of tweeking in technique the SW is definitely the better out of sand for me so its back in the bag and so far so good.

Its got a cavity back and doesn't look as neat but its working at the moment so in it stays!!
