Hi first time poster here, trying to identify this set of Maxfli Australian Blade irons I found in the UK.

Set runs 2–SW, includes matching persimmon 1, 3, 5 woods — likely original.

Not TM-92s or DP-30s — different cavity shape and stamping layout.

“Frequency Matched” suggests mid-1980s, but I haven’t found this exact model online or in Maltby’s guide. Could be a UK-market exclusive?

Here’s the sand wedge for reference:

Any help dating or confirming this set’s origin would be much appreciated.

The earliest advert I've found for these was from June 1985, are the numbered irons like this?

That pic does match the design of the numbered irons! Thank you Crow, great find.

Would you happen to have any further info you could share about them from the ad? I’ve been trying to figure out if these were UK market only?

After the initial Australian Blades it becomes very hard to say where they were from as Dunlop began making them at their factories across the globe.

It's possible that as well as the UK, they were also produced in Australia, Canada, the US and Japan.

Here's the, quite clever, advert.

And to save you straining your neck here i is the other way up.

That is a funny ad, heads on both sides of the coin, perhaps it’s also poking fun at the Australian blades ‘down under’. I admit it’s slightly lost on me haha

Really cool to see the clubs on an original ad, thank you so much for sharing.

Can I ask what date this ad is from and in which publication?

As I said I’m keen for any info on these clubs so if there’s anymore you have please do share, thanks again!

June 1985, Golf World.

This video has information on the early history of the Australian Blades but I have no more about your model.

Now this is a coincidence.
The upsidedown ad shows a Maxfli Original Blade and a Australian Blade Frequency Matched.

I have an Original Blade 2-iron and a Auzzie Blade Frequency Matched SW.

Thanks @Crow for giving a date for these.

My full set of Australian Blades are from circa 1978, I believe. Perhaps some of the earliest ones.
Used last Friday on Heysham golf course, of course.

That "Original Blade" looks awesome! The clubs in the lower picture look very similar to my set of Golfcraft Continentals (circa late 60s, early 70s). I'll try to find a photo.

Here's a photo from online, these irons were awesome. The set I purchased (used) had fibreglass shafts, which I took out and replaced with TT Dynamic Gold shafts. Used them for about 10 years and still have them.

Actually played today with a fellow club-member who was using a Powerbuilt sand wedge! Uses it well, and plays well. He is a two handicap, at 72 years. Shot 71 last week.

I have a set of 2-SW Powerbilt Oversize

I have used the longer irons in handicap qualifying comps to good effect.
