SAM putt Lab

I'm booked in for a SAM fitting in Saturday really looking forward to it, but they told me they won't be able to fit me for most of the current models as they are about to be discontinued. Will this have an affect on the fitting itself, or does it just limit the choice of putters I could potentially buy on the day?

Ive had a couple of sessions on the SAM and found them useful but, for me, the Aimpoint day With Jamie Donaldson was much much more helpful

Anyone know where to find this around Edinburgh? Only place I can find is Archerfield but it seems a bit pricey!
I don't like to advertise however I will anyway
American golf at braidhills has
A 4 day short game roadshow
Next week from Thu-sun

And free1/2 hour Sam putt lab fits are a massive part of it
Booking is already busy but if you want a space reserved
Happy for you to message me on here and I will sort it out
And make sure the roadshow team
Look after you

do you know if the one at Trafford in Dec is similar?

I had a session on the SAM putt lab at American golf today. Thanks to elmoag for sorting it.

Very interesting and illuminating experience. First thing I learned was that I have a tendency to set up with the putter face slightly closed to the target (something I apparently correct at impact). Next thing was that I take the putter back slightly on the outside, which amazed me - I was sure I brought it back on the inside. Feel vs real and all that. I also tend to strike the ball slightly towards the toe of the putter.

I don't have much arc on my stroke so should definitely stick with a face-balanced putter... so much for the Scotty Newport I had my eye on!

So I went away with the knowledge my putting stroke is very consistent and that I should stick to a face balanced putter although maybe a shorter shaft than my current putter. I also got a tip to stand slightly further back when addressing putts and I have a drill to try and encourage me to take it back straighter rather than on the outside.

All of that and no hard sell to buy a new putter so I'm really happy and recommend anyone else who's interested gives it a go.

I used the one at the club yesterday with some very interesting results.

It seems I'm pretty good, technically; but a couple of issues which creep in, get exacerbated when things go wrong mentally, are holding me back.

I set up to the ball well, and do so consistently. I have a good swing path (a very slight loop at transition, but nothing terrible) and hit from the centre of the putter well.

But my main issues are swing speed & distance going back (too short and quick) and not enough rise angle on the through swing into impact.
Apparently these, on poor greens or just on a bad day, could see me jabbing the ball more and hitting it with backspin rather than roll. Meaning the ball will bounce (which it can do) and not roll out to the hole, affecting distance control.

A few tips and tweaks moved me from 1.7* to 3.3* rise at impact and predicted topspin, rather than neutral.

A few practice points gained for the winter period.

I recommend

(pls note that terminology is not all from the pro, I can't remember all points he made or tech terms used)
