Can we all chip in and oust the existing weatherpeople and hire a new optomistic person to give us our weather? I mean did anyone manage to get 18 holes in today? Hopefully tomorrow the rain will have eased off (according to metcheck anyway). Im starting to get the DT tremors and withdrawal symptoms.

I know murph, its just disheartening knowing days in advance that the regular saturday game is just not going to happen. Ground frost you say? that means you had a dry night then, where abouts are you? I thought everywhere was getting drenched this weekend.

Blowing a gale and raining down here today.
Was supposed to be going out on the Motorbike and meet up with a few friends for our annual "farewell to Summer" rideout today.
It's off to Herne Bay in the car visiting the inlaws.
Sams Mums cooking isn't the best in the world so we declined their offer of lunch as we had other things to do and wouldn't be getting there until about 2.30........like find a nice romantic restaurant somewhere on the way over!! ;) ;) ;)

Had to work saturday, so no chance of golf. Anyway I don't like playing on weekends as the courses are just too busy. Hence why I took a 5 day membership this time. Looked alright to play each time walked out to the staff canteen. There again a little cold wind or rain never stopped me when I want to play.

As regards to the weatherpeople, as pointed out, they don't make the weather, there again their job is to predict the weather & I will agree that some days I'm more likely to predict the weather than they are correctly, but to say sack all weathermen, is a bit strong imo, though I did feel that way when we were in Wales & couldn't complete our round due to the weather people getting it wrong & 2 of our party being complete wimps when it comes to playing in adverse conditions.

Raining in Watford today, played 11 holes in horrid conditions, now sat surrounded by drying golf kit watching the footy on th haunted fish tank.

I guess it is the pay off for yesterday.

Rained hard all morning here too Murph. Got all the way round but boy were we wet by the end. Only plus points - little wind today and not too cold

Headed up to the range for a practice session. Not the best I've ever had with two or three good shots on the trot followed by a big ugly hook from nowhere. I'm also trying to work on a more penertrating ball flight as opposed to a "rainbow" type where if flies in a big high loop. I've been working with my coach on this and made some set up changes and moved the ball a tad back but for some reason not getting the consistency today. Might be because I woke up feeling rough (temperature, bunged up and the sweats - man flu coming) and found it hard to gt into until late into the first bucket. Got it together more with the 2nd bucket but still getting the odd hook from nowhere.

Don't think I can complain too much overall though. Played yesterday. Lost a ball on the first and then played 2 through to 9 in +2 which all came courtesy of a nice 3 putt double on 9. Think I started getting quick and trying to belt it and trying to hard on the back 9 so it was much more ragged but did make a nice birdie on 15 rolling in a 15 footer. Definitely got my mojo back. Just a shame it is too dark to work on my short game in the evening now

Homer did you take a camera/camcorder with you? ive started taking mine and when I hit a shot I was happy with I'd record what i thought I did right. After yesterdays washout I went out this morning not expecting to repeat the previous two sunday rounds of 70 and 72. I was right, struggled to an 80 for the course and apart from my wedge play wasnt really happy with any part of my game. It was easily gale force winds but it wasnt far off that last week so cant wait for next week to prove to myself that it was just a bad round and I can do better again.

Its something I'm looking into doing but apart from a mobile phone cam I've not got anything to film with. Having had a chat with my coach recently it is very much a case of these hooks coming from a) a very handsy swing and b) over-rotating with the upper part of the body and pulling the club face shut on the way through.

To be honest I prefer a hook to a slice anyday. Even though it is arguably more destructive in that the ball is running hotter into danger etc at least the impact normally feels better and you can at least kid yourself and say that you were coming at the ball from a good position (i.e. not coming across). The problem really is that it is just popping up out of nowhere on the range after a run of solid shots.

I hit a few hooky drives today where I just let my right arm take over, its amazing that you tell yourself not to do it but as soon as you start your backswing, the thoughts all disolve away haha.

On the subject of weather forecasting guys. I have been told to use metcheck apparently it is what the airline pilots use?
Played yesterday and the outward nine was great but the wind really picked up on the way in. In fact so much so that on our 192 yrd par 3 I used my driver into the wind and still ended up short of the green!

I mean did anyone manage to get 18 holes in today?

Weather report for Hatfield London Country Club Members course as follows:-

Saturday 12pm tee time : high winds, mild temperatures, no rain, mixed cloud

Sunday 11.30am tee time :No wind , mild temperatures, Light rain for first 7 hole, mainly overcast.

Metcheck - bang on

+1 standing on the 18th tee despite a +3 on the 2nd. 210 yard 3 wood(don't own a driver but eyeing up a a TM Tour Burner), 4 iron into trees right - gone, first provisional into leaf chaff on right never to be seen again, 2nd provisional right of green, 2 duffed chips holed out for an 11!

I was at -2 at one point. Felt the will to live dribble out of my left big toe as we headed to the club house :(

Golf - not bang on but enjoyed it anyway

MY 'eclectic' on S4G for this course has dropped to 82 which is something.

Some of the most moderate weather throughout the year you will find in the area of eastern half of uk between SE Yorkshire and The wash.Apart from the windy days at times the weather is playable more often than other areas in the UK.

Ireland is a lottery with about 200 days of rain per year, Scotland is up and down like a yoyo, or it was when I used to visit and later live there for a time. The North of England has bouts of horrific weather and lots of rain, The west also and the South of England is a double headed sort of deal, either brilliant weather or horrible and rarely in between.

Now thats my forcast so is the job available and whats the sallery? :D
