Ryder in Rome

I would have liked to seen it held in Sweden given the amount swedes that have played in the Ryder Cup .They always seem to get great crowds for the european tour events there and they have some great courses. I dont know whetther they tabled a bid and i guess the late September date may have have been a problem for light.

Guess the weather would have a big say

Think Denmark were part of the bidding process though

I'm not so sure about this hawking the European hosting rights around the continent.

Is there a danger that there will be too much pressure to include a player of whichever country is hosting the comp?

One could argue that Stephen Gallacher at Gleneagles didn't work any maybe the pressure to have a Scot on the team influenced the wild card selections. (Admittedly he was playing well but that often is not enough - see Casey in 2010)

So what happens in France in 2018 if VDUB's not playing well? And likewise Italy.

Just a thought.

No Welshman played in Wales as far as I remember
