Fellow drinkers. Was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for a good Rum.

Over the years my taste buds have changed, can’t remember the last time I drank lager or cider. Still absolutely love a Pint or several of Guinness, the odd Whisky but over the last 18months I’ve fell in love with everything Rum based, Dark, Light, Spiced and flavoured.

I’ve built up a nice little collection of different rums and more recently think I’ve added nearly every flavour of Dead Man’s fingers! So just wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions as the birthday is coming up and I fancy treating myself to something.

I think I should have been a Pirate !

Didn’t know they did Rum, thanks for the recommendation just had a quick look. Quite like the description of the 1787 and the 1919. I’ll add them to the list of maybes, looking to compile a list and get a couple of bottles.

Plantation (now planetary) 20yr old - work downwards from here, it is spectacular.
Don papa is nice, kraken watery, diablesse Clementine is delicious and Aldi spiced is a great everyday type rum.

I’ve yet to find a Dead Mans fingers I don’t like! The Spiced one is nice, but also in this weather I’m loving the Coconut one! Even got the Mrs addicted to the Passion Fruit flavour. An off the wall flavour but really tasty one they do is Banana Rum! It shouldn’t be nice but it’s so refreshing a bottle can easily disappear!!

As for Kraken I’m with you, nearly everyone I know loves it but of all the ones I’ve tried it would be the last I ever choose to drink.

A double shot of the passion fruit one with Ice and just a splash of lemonade and you have a really nice flavoured and refreshing Rum. It goes down very easily!

Banana one is sweet but if I open that bottle it’s always just Rum over ice any mixer and it becomes very sweet indeed.

Love coffee DMF. Mixed with coke, Guinness and an espresso shot it’s a heady brew.

The coffee one is literally one of the few I don’t have! But I love Coffee and Guinness as well so sounds like I just found my next tipple!

It’s a magic brew. But it also has side effects like legs stopping working and the ability to talk in tongues…

Tall glass, double shot of DMF, an espresso shot, fill to 3/4 with Guinness and top off with Coke.

If you wanna get real fancy, drop in an ice cube.

Do you drink it neat or mix it with something like coke

Try the dark cherry Kraken, great stuff. For straight run, Appleton's signature, or captain Morgan private reserve. For a UK company try Pirates Grog, for gifts the bottles on the wooden pirates chest are great.
