Ruling please gents

Have raised this question on the forum of my own club but didn't get a reasonable answer and all the greenstaff want to kill me.

On a couple of holes, on old pin positions, the replaced turf is not a great fit and is sitting proud of the putting surface by about 5mm, really noticeable.

What relief am I entitled to take - if any?

all sensible suggestions gratefully received.

Just treat it as a pitchmark, repair it and flatten it.

Yep, That's the rule - 16/1c. Also see decision 16/1c-3.

You can repair it, or if this not possible you have to wait until committee declare it as GUR. (No relief as such until committee do declare it as GUR)

We have an extra hole cut on each green - why, I have no idea - but the "spare" one has a piece of green astroturf on top to try to provide a surface of some description.
Often, these covers sink a little and if they are on your putting line they are treated as GUR.

A player's ball lies on the green. An old hole plug is sunk or raised on the player's line of putt. What relief is available to the player?

The player may attempt to raise or lower the plug to make it level with the surface of the putting green – Rule 16-1c. If this is impossible, he may discontinue play and request the Committee to raise or lower the plug. If the Committee cannot level the plug without unduly delaying play, the Committee should declare the plug to be ground under repair, in which case the player would be entitled to relief under Rule 25-1b(iii).

We have such plugs also. They are relics from the original Powerplay trials some 4 years ago. We have a local rule giving relief.

Here in NZ we have 2 holes on each green anyways and if the one not in use is on your line you're entitled to free relief.
