Rules Changes

Mulligans to be official and as in Tennis you get TWO tee shots if the first one doesnt hit the fairway

*edit* Imurg musta clicked enter seconds before me on mulligans- great minds

I'd like to see no penalty for the ball moving on a green after the putter is grounded.
Ball to be replaced but no penalty, makes sense to me.

The other day I came across this from Rule 25-1b covering relief from casual water on the green

(iii) On the Putting Green: If the ball lies on the putting green, the player must lift the ball and place it, without penalty, at the nearest point of relief that is not in a hazard or, if complete relief is impossible, at the nearest position to where it lay that affords maximum available relief from the condition, but not nearer the hole and not in a hazard. The nearest point of relief or maximum available relief may be off the putting green.

So if you are on the green and there is a puddle between your ball and the hole and you want to take relief, if the nearest point of relief is on the fringe or even in long grass by the green that's where you have to place your ball.

Confirmed by Decision 25-1b/10 Casual Water on Putting Green; Nearest Point of Relief Is Off Green.

That seems daft to me and hardly fair so I'd suggest that this is changed so that you place it at the neaest point of relief on the green.

There are others but that is one that springs to mind.

No grown man is allowed more than a shot a hole....

And how would that make golf fairer or more equitable?

Has to be top of the rules changes, second only to banning for life from every golf course in the world, any muppet that shouts "in the hole"

Cheers

Steve...

I would like a shot that is hit out of bounds to be penalised by shot and distance but the replaced ball should have an option to be played from within two clubs lenghts of the point the ball crossed the boundary, I think this would make the rule more in line with balls hit into water hazards or unplayables etc.

It would also prevent golfers having to trot back to the tee box to play the next shot if they find their ball unexpectedly OOB. Anything to speed up the game.

I would agree with this for sure.

I would also like to see changes to the etiquette section regarding the shout out "FORE" after and errant strike, making it a requirement to shout........ Especially in the professional game.

Agree with the GPS change above
Agree with Bob on the ball moving change
Not sure about the OOB comment
My contribution is :- in one club relief or two club penalty relief a putter cannot be used and,a ball on a closely mown area may be lifted, cleaned and placed within six inches.

Agree with most already, but two that I really feel strongly about:

Having to play out of a divot on the fairway is definitely one that NEVER made sense to me, both from a course maintenance and fairness point of view.

And stones in bunkers should definitely be moveable obstructions.

Stones in bunkers should defiantly be a blanket rule rather than a local only one. I've played at courses that don't have the rule in place yet there are boulders in them!

Ball moving on putting green as Bobmac said. Definitely agree with that one.

I'd also like to stop local rules stipulating stone paths as integral parts of the course and therefore denying free relief options. They should be immovable obstructions plain and simple. The choice to play of them should be down to the player it shouldn't be forced.
