Practical Jokes on the course

This is a specific example and not something you could really replicate, but I played Little Hay with my family a while back, and the 2nd hole is adjacent to the driving range. A couple of balls flew over the fence near us so we were trying to get a move on. My cousin picked up a couple of the range balls that were on the ground though, and every few minutes he'd go up behind my uncle (his dad) and chuck the balls at the ground near him so he thought he was being absolutely peppered from the driving range. 😂

You’re right, but as ever the full story only came out later in the thread
Fair enough. To be honest I’m all for people enjoying golf however they want as long as they don’t encroach on the enjoyment of others or damage the course.

So that is avoid slow play, looking after the course etc.

One of mates can never see where his ball went. I let him walk past it and 50 yards later when I got to my ball I sent him over to the other side of the fairway to look for for it whilst I played my shot.

I’m not a fan of practical jokes on or off the course
I really (really) enjoy having a laugh, often at others expense with banter, one-liners, taking the pee etc but the physical aspect of most practical jokes too often turns the subject/target of a joke into a victim and that's a line I'm just not comfortable with
Can’t even watch them on YT without feeling discomfort. I see that fake snake one and truly believe one day an old bugger will keel over and die with heart failure while his mates laugh out loud

Sometimes wish I didn’t feel that way but there you are

Have a joke and a giggle on the course I have no problem with. Messing around with peoples property is a big no.
There is always 1 person that becomes that butt of the jokes and there is always someone who can give it but not take it.
Unless you are the ONLY group on the course, some of the things mentioned previously show no respect for the other players on the course.

Until the bag falls off and the head of his new £500 driver snaps off. Who pays for the new shaft?

When I was younger and played about with cars a bit, a group of us went to an event and the car park was in a slightly damp field. So as you did, nice little hand brake turn and slide to have a bit of fun. One of my mates didn’t quite judge it correctly and proceeded to slide straight into the front end of my car causing quite a bit of damage. Caused a bit of a scene and the group thought I would be livid, but he was told in no uncertain terms that he was paying for the damage to be repaired in a garage of my choosing. And yes, he paid up.

Think it is also true on forums, social media and at times in the workplace. People happy to give it out but not so keen taking it especially if it gets escalated say in a workplace scenario when it was "just fun" until a disciplinary kicks in
