Depending on what you train as it can be very useful in later life when you try and get back into civy street.

Some of the technical trades will make you a very useful employee in future years. Well worth looking into IMO.

:D :D :D - someones feeling a bit perkier this evening!

Yup really on the mend, the left nostril is lagging behind but I have a sinus rinse for that.

It is basically washing all the dried blood and mucus as well as any particulates or bacteria out of my sinuses through my mouth.

Oh its a hoot coughing all the stuff out, tastes fantastic too, especially the strong saline solution (at least it is pH neutral so it doesn't burn)

No more off topic now.

So the navy huh?

I knew a few people who did it, not used it yet but they all say it was a great experience getting trained.

But in the navy, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy, you can put your mind at ease

And they want you, they want you, they want you as a new recruit.

I left the RN just over a year ago after doing 23 years as a weapon engineer. I would say do it, you'll get to see much of the world, get a trade and get experience that civvy employers are looking for. Oh and you will get plenty of golf in as well, I've played all over the world from Dubai to St Helena and it's normally been free or heavily discounted, and if you're good enough you could play for the Navy.

Thanks guys :). A couple more questions... is the training hard? :)

Speak to the guys in the Navy careers office i'm sure they'd advise you mate.
You only live once Owen would be well worth it.

^^ wot 'e said. When I was 17 I was already to join the air force, the sargent in the careers office said to me to finish my time as a sparky, it was THE worst mistake I made. Go for it you have nothing to lose.

I did 25 as an Avionics Artificer but that was a while ago (and no Nelson wasn't my cabin boy!, we even had engines).

different sort of Navy now, (but don't we all say that)

as to training, hard in what way, physical or mental? what do you want to do?

More the physical side, im quite fit but not as fit as i can get. I was thinking either engineering technician or seaman specialist(thats what it is called before someone makes a joke about it ;))
