I have booked Royal Dornoch on Friday 8th August at 2.50, would anyone like to join me for a round.

Great reports from the others that have played there recently and I'm really looking forward to playing on one of the best courses in the world.

how much are they charging you?

Paid £120 which includes the Dornoch Firth pass as I'm intending to play some other courses.

I used to get on for £10 when i was a Tain Member, alas i would have to pay the full whack now, unless i played with a couple of mates of mine who are members.

might be able to join you at one of the others

Would welcome some company on any of the courses, at the moment I'm thinking of playing Tain on Thursday 7th August and Brora and Golspie the following week.

I expect you have played these courses any particular favorites ?

Also could you recommend any good hotels in Tain, Brora, and Golspie.

Tain ( was a member there for a while) nice course and Brora ( quirky with the electric fences)
Not played Golspie for a while its a mix of Links, heathland and parkland.

If you have time i would also play the 9 hole at Tarbat (Portmahomack) and Bonar Bridge. Two great little courses, greens won't be quick but both fun golf. Yoy wo'nt get better highland views than at Bonar either. Plus there's always Ospreys fishing in the Loch on the edge of the course.

The Royal Marine in Brora is sup to be nice and the Golf View in Dornoch ( expensive though) there's a handful of B&B's i would check those on the web.

Thanks for the info, as my wife is coming think I would be pushing my luck playing more than four rounds;)

But will try and have a run to Bonar and hopefully see a osprey

Royal Marine looks good might stay there.

the Loch at Bonar can only be seen from the course, though there are plenty of nests around the Dornoch area.

Ill have to let you know if i can make any games closer to that date.

I played Golspie last September, lovely little course, especially at the far end which is the more heathland part. Bit of an uninspiring start but once you play the first 3(?) and get back to the clubhouse it really starts to come alive. Had massive storm damage 18 months ago and the club are immensely proud of how well they repaired it all.

Highly recommended

the first 5 are the links ones;)

its the ones near the clubhouse that don't do it for me, very parkland.

If that's the case might might have to play Boner if it's a better chance to see a osprey;)

Will post nearer the time, you will be more than welcome to join me on any of the dates, good to have some local knowledge. ;)

Yep, there is a little loop of 3 or 4 holes at the beginning that come back to the clubhouse, flat and uninspiring holes. After that it gets much more interesting with more undulations before getting to the heathland at the south end of the course.

Not sure where you get a parkland feel from, very much linksy with a few pine trees. Very similar to Panmure/Monifeith.
