Danny Baker - you can take the boy out of Bermondsey, but not Bermondsey out of the boy.

Do you think it was a genuine error of judgement or did he know what he was doing? I'd like to think it was the former as I like him on the radio but that may well colour my view.Danny Baker - you can take the boy out of Bermondsey, but not Bermondsey out of the boy.

I'm guessing he will turn up at Virgin Radio in the next few days.
I know, I was thinking the same. Funnily enough when we were talking about the name yesterday I said it was a great name for a lab. I originally typed black lab as there are a lot of black labs, 10-1 compared to other types, on the estate where I live and I could see them being called Archie. I was about to to post and then realised it could be misconstrued. Though was no hidden dig but I stopped myself as I realised it could be taken the wrong way if someone wanted to twist it. If I could work that out whilst thinking of posting on a golf forum then Baker surely should have had that thought process as well. He's old enough and has plenty broadcasting experience to know better
Yeah I don't think he posted as a deliberate racist joke at all. He just thought it was a silly picture and posted it without thinking. It's always surprising when famous broadcasters aren't more careful about what they post or say.Do you think it was a genuine error of judgement or did he know what he was doing? Your post started off well but then you started making parellels with Farage and the immigrant poster, we will probably have the usual suspects suggesting its because of Brexit and the Red Bus next. Let us know if you enjoyed Nigel Sunday night.I'd agree. I've listened to countless shows and podcasts he's done and read his series of 3 autobiographies, and not once have I though 'hold on, he sounds a bit racist'. And I hope I'm not a racist apologist. I'm not sure if anyone has found one single piece of evidence that he is apart from reading into this tweet. In the past he has done 'famous people dressed up as monkeys accompanied by fairground music' he championed 'chimpanzee riding on a segway', he's posted pictures of monkeys dressed up in clothes on several occasions.
Agree it was a stupid tweet to make and he should have thought about the connotations before he posted it, but not for one second do I think he thought' Oh, let's infer that their baby is a monkey' in a racist way. He apologised straight away and said he was very sorry. If making a stupid tweet is enough to get you fired form the BBC now then OK, we are where we are. But as others have pointed out, Farage of the migrant poster is on QT yet again this week, so it seems they are OK with his particular brand of nationalism but do not want anything to do with a broadcaster who made one silly tweet.
Still. I'm off to see him on Sunday evening so that should be fun!

I saw him last night giving interviews on his doorstep. I can't say he came out of it well. He claimed not to realise who's baby it was 😱😱. He knew it was a royal baby but not which royal. His defence fell apart a bit at that point imo

If you did post that I can guarantee that if one person did pull you up on it they’d then be queuing up to have a pop.
People would rather think the worse than give someone the benefit of the doubt.
Probably makes them feel better about themselves.
