Since I had had about 10 hours sleep in 3 days, had just got off a 12 1/2 our flight, no, I didn't stay, and off to bed. Well, off to pack for Florida (similar). Sat at home with beer and cat, waiting for the z's (6Am start tomorrow).

So, nothing off the wrong parts of the stick today(well the bottom edge and the toe, maybe), so fairly happy. However, always felt I never really 'opened my shoulders' today, so may be a reason for my success. Lesson for the future?

Thanks to Homer for organising, and putting up with me during the round, ditto to MikeH (serious drive, the ball wasn't flying today at all), and Neil (for his company, and telling us half way round he had gone up a shot, when he clearly didn't need the all the ones he was getting).

Thanks too to HTL, always a pleasure to pip him by a couple of points. For some reason he thinks the next time we play he will step up to the plate. Never going to happen. Dream on.

Really good crowd of guys (plus one = AliB, who upheld the ladies honour by coming 3rd), always nice to put faces to tags (next time we really do need labels, as we found out at Goswick).

Could have done without the M25 closure. Heathrow to Watford, Watford to Ascot, Ascot to Watford. Estimated time, 2 hours total, actual time, 6 hours plus. Hmm. In 5 hours I was in Goswick. Maybe the northern meets are a more practical proposition.

Just wondering what to get engraved on the shield.

WINNER!

Certainly was a great day slightly marred by the fact that I played like a cretin!!

Believe me, these new Prov-1's are no good at all - much too easy to lose.

Personal highlight was a great sand save early on under the watchful eye of the GM photographer - no pressure then!

Well done to all the winners and better luck next time to the rest of us.

Big thanks to Homer, Mike and the boys for the day. I'll see if I can bring some sort of game with me next year!

Not long back! Serious traffic problems so nearly 5 hours from Ascot, much of it spent in solid jams trying to find a way around the closure with a SatNav that wanted to send me back.

I must add my thanks to Homer for his splendid organisation, which so very nearly extended to the weather, (I proved I need the sun on my back by doubling the front nine total on the back), and to Royal Ascot for their kindness and for some very good roast beef!

Thanks too, to GM for their sterling support for the event.

And by no means least, thanks to hapless, backwoodsman and Paul O' for a hugely enjoyable round (despite my truly awful driving). Star shot has to be hapless chip-in for birdie - a cut methinks (seriously he has a pretty solid short game)

Great to meet so many alter-egos, just a shame you can't play with everyone (and to re-iterate murphs point, we do need labels).

I believe the vast portfolio of photographs are to be available in the gallery sometime Monday.

(I think I need the photographer on the greens all the time - I was at my best when he was there).

This event goes in the diary for next year - how big can we go?

Now, roll on The Belfry

Enjoyed reading all the reports of the Royal Ascot meet and that everyone had an enjoyable day - also putting names to faces, always interesting. Sure I'll be there next year.

On the subject of labels - reminds me of the Millennium, my family organised a large celebration party where some members hadn't been seen for years, plus all the children. Somebody came up with the bright idea of everybody wearing labels. Each family had their own colour code. It worked really well and created a good ice breaker for unfamiliar faces.

Looking forward to viewing all the photos.

Well done Murphthemog, the winner and first name on the annual shield.

Put me and Harry Senior down for next year, and I will bring badges so we can work out who is who.

Oh and well done also to Neil for the 39pts and for the closest the pin, that was a good knock to a hard pin.

I will definately be there next year, no doubt about it and for now, I cant wait until the belfry in the summer.

Well done chris on your victory, you and I seem to have a habit of coming in with a prize, cant wait until we are head2head again in golfs equivilent of the north london derby!

Well done Homer on organising a great day for everyone and as for GM's involvement, once again they have shown just why no other golf magazine comes close.

A bit late in posting as I sort of fell asleep in the chair when I got home...

I'll add my voice to the others to say great organising Homer, and thanks to GM for their support. A cracking day out and great to meet up with everyone - especially those who'd put a fair few miles under their belts to get there. When the sun finally broke through it was glorious weather. I even enjoyed my own golf - which held up for 15 holes of the round (ie about 10 holes better than expected).

Agree with Viscount - highlight was Mr H Hacker's outrageous chip in for birdie (HH - it made up for your drive on 4th I guess ;) ;) ).

And JezzE - you're gonna have to pay up. It was from the back tees and on the first it was waaaaay back

Morning all
Just joining in the thanks to Homer and GM for a really great day and also my playing partners (HTL. Ademac. Midnight) who were great company and didn't complain once (in my hearing!) about the relative position of red and white tees - just a tad in my favour ;) All I can say is if I had played off the whites we would have been out there a Very Long Time Indeed.
HTL - didn't realise you were the one I had edged out on count back, so bad luck mate and bet you make up for it next time.
Prizes (nice sparkly one) and Goody bags were very generous adn Mr B and I are still gloating over the haul. He enjoyed his first encounter with the GM crowd though was disppointed not to have played better - (think he was trying too hard ot keep up with Neil T!) and we're hoping to come back for next year's event. Must try to drum up a few more lady forummers before then.
Homer - all your club staff and members were also v. welcoming - will be a pleasure to return (and yes, I did hand back my swipe card!)
Looking forward to a Forum Fourball at end of month with Neil (Twire) and Vicky (wackygolfer) - now off to read that post about the Belfry.

Pictures? Hah!
forgot to say I have never IN MY LIFE been as nervous as on the first tee with Tom lining up his lens ... not to mention his turning up on the way around at all the worst moments. I finally forgave him on the 16th when I wangled a cheeky par from GUR.
Anyone who has yet to join a forum meet - be warned, publicity hurts! (and hats off to anyone who hit a good one on camera).

Well done guys on what sounds like a great day out.
Look forward to seeing you all in action on Monday.

PS. I'll have a tenner on Harris and a fiver each way on Ali.
This a quote from me on a previous thread. Did anyone take me up on it? :D
Well done Ali. I had a good feeling about your chances.

Bit late posting as I've just come in from our monthly medal, and was a bit to sleepy to post when I got home last night. I'd like to thank Homer for organising a great golf day, and the support from RA golf club (the vice captain was a nice touch) and GM for their goody bags, prizes, support and company, although if I had realised they were bringing an official photgrapher, i'd have had a hair cut. It was great to put faces to names and all the forumers were good company. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day. My four ball was Mike H, Homer and Murph and I'm pleased to say I think I held my own as the highest capper in the group, just wish I could have hit my putts a little harder (left about half a dozen 2-6 inches short).

Congrats to Neil T for 39 pts (off 5) to Murph 35, Smiffy 33 and Ali 33. Mike and Harry for the longest drives, and Neil T for nearest the pin.

Put me down for next year Homer.

Cheers, Twire.
