Rory McIlroy swing analysis.

Don't agree with any of it, and it's a terrible camera angle to be analysing the swing from.

Curious to know what you don't agree with.

The analysis is sound in my opinion, although i do think the back trouble he experiences is more of an issue for someone his age than controlling the golf ball. Both caused by the points raised in the video.

I've played with James and the answer to the question of why he's off 6 is basically he's a lazy git who doesn't put the work in on the range. If he dedicated himself and really worked on everything he's good enough to be scratch.

6 - 0 Homer is night and day

I believe james' first ever handicap was 1.

Shows he's got the talent.

And now off 6???

You've never seen his irons, have you??

I can't tell you why his handicap has drifted but he's a very good golfer who's opinion I value.

I wouldn't always act on it but I'd listen to him.

All I'll say is that I've had lessons and chats with Professionals who've talked complete wibble so being a Pro golfer doesn't make you the best teacher or, even, an authority on the game.

LOL... is this an alalysis of MY golf swing?

I gave up for 7 years, not a ball hit. Came back... tinkered for a bit, joined a club put in my 3 cards (one of which was 3 over) and got a h/cap of 6 from the club secretary so that I could play in a comp the next day without him needing to refer me to the county golf union

I didn't really care as I thought I'd be knocking sub-par rounds in pretty often but it hasn't really happened.. mostly due to lack of practice (injury), partly down to lack of motivation and this stack & tilt stuff is well hard! ;) LOL

I've spent practically the past 2 years reading everything I can possibly find about the golfswing, 8 hours per day 7 days a week... not a mars bar sold :( ...but it's certainly more interesting than when I used to stand on the practice ground freezing my nuts off for 8 hours :p

Do you not have a job?? :D

If James' secretary had acted within the congu rules, then he would have been off 2. However, his secretary had a reluctance to go county, and put him off 5.5. This has put him off, and he has lost some motivation.

However, he is a fine student of the golf swing. Worth listening to.

Does that mean that James is a bandit?? ;)

He's got some interesting things going on in his swing, he takes his hands outside at the beginning of his swing and very wide which loses the pressure point 4 (left armpit). his swing isn't complete until he regains that pressure. to change this he'd have to completely rework his takeaway, position of the left arm and the top of his swing. His right arm doesn't get anywhere near as far behind him as that angle would suggest and subsequently I don't call this position stuck...(on plane?)

.... actually the original analysis doen't say anything that my mum couldn't write just by watching Wayne de Francesco's opinion first (knees increasing flex on the downswing, legs straightening, hands catching up etc)...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUbvb8-ddbk

6min 49sec... Wayne seems to like it.

Ok, what do you guys think of his left arm position any good? (Obviously not Justin Leonard) :D

from your other thread....

"Almost without exception, slicers have the collapsed left elbow which drags the club accross the line."

Is McIlroy a closet slicer Bob?
