Rory McIlroy swing analysis.

Don't agree with any of it, and it's a terrible camera angle to be analysing the swing from.

You don't have to agree, and Dan is smart enough to be aware of the angles in a golf swing from off center.

What don't you agree with, smartypants?

He's not stacking all his weight on the left side.

In the red corner - weighing in at 120 pounds - Jaaaaaaaames 'Stack and Tilt' JustOne

In the blue corner - weighing in at 150 pounds - Alan 'The GM Brawler' Dodger

Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight.. :D

Not at all AW....it just amazes me that he thinks he is a walking bible of the golf swing when he plays off 6,we even had a pro taking tips off him lately!

I'm sorry but if I was looking for golf tips it would be a qualified pro I would be taking my advice off not a run of the mill club golfer.

Nothing personal but these are my (and a few others) opinions.

Only joking geezer.

I hear what you're saying but I've played a few times with James and he is a very good golfer. His handicap doesn't do him justice. I've played with many, many good golfers down the years, some pros and he's up there with them. I can't quite work out why he's off 6 to be honest.

His views on golf and the techniques involved are slightly leftfield but I think he's worth listening to.

The same could apply to a club pro being qualified to critique McIlroys swing, or a 20+ handicapper giving short game tips to a bloke off 6 (as on a different thread).

It's all about opinions,

The clue is in the job title...Professional.

I've played with James and the answer to the question of why he's off 6 is basically he's a lazy git who doesn't put the work in on the range. If he dedicated himself and really worked on everything he's good enough to be scratch.

I think it is always interesting to watch a top golfers swing even if the angles aren't great. There is always something you can take and lets face it Rory isn't a bad model to base a swing on

Yep,and remind me what you play off again....

6..... AND play CRAP most of the time, I carry no bones about that. I don't ever practice, play about as often as most high h/cappers and currently have my wrist strapped up for about the 30th time in a year. If I shoot 80 next time out I'll be happy.... not sure what that has to do with knowledge? If my h/cap goes out to 10, 12 or 28 the knowledge will still be there, I could be in a wheelchair and know more about the swing than my local pro... so what is your point?

You could but....have you qualified or is your knowledge just what you know?
It is my opinion that you should be a very good player and qualified,I'll stick to a professional but by all means carry on preaching to those who like what you say.

fair enough, but your point is that you have to have to have ability to be knowledgeable about a golf swing. You believe James' advice to be irrelevant as he's 'only' off 6. However that club pro in question isn't fit to regrip Rory's driver in terms of ability. This doesn't mean his opinion is any less valid.

James can give 100% of his time to swing analysis, he hasn't got the distraction of selling mars bars to get in the way. :D :D

6 - 0 Homer is night and day

I believe james' first ever handicap was 1.

Shows he's got the talent.
