You could say the same for liverpool and torres, Chelsea and Drogba, fact of the matter is, If Ronaldo doesnt play, someone else will chip in with goals, there was a time before Ronaldo played for united, and if you know our history, I think you'll find for a mid table team, we have won more than anyone in the last 15 years!

I take your point and on paper, it sounds like the truth, but in reality, do you really think United would be playing for a spot in the intertoto cup if Ronaldo went to Real Madrid!

No, but I don't think they would be in the top 4 this year. Bear in mind the other players you mention, and you forgot Adebayor, are all strikers. 40 odd goals from midfield is exceptional.
