Ricky Fowler (future major winner ?)

I really like Fowler, but maybe thats because he is close to my age, and you oldies dont like his outrageous gear!

He is definitely NOT overhyped! McIlroy is heralded as Tiger's predecessor, yet has won only 3 times in his career and lost so many tournaments from a leading position. I am sure that when Rickie gets one under his belt, theyll roll in.

But it is three more than the boy fowler..........

I'm an oldie, a very oldie and I wish I had the cahonies to wear his gear, love his attitude and fast no nonsense play, I rate him over mcilroy but obviously not in wins or swing looks, but I'd watch an exciting colourful guy like him all day.

I was disapointted that Rory announced himself as a fair weather golfer.

Are we not all to an extent? Surely he was just saying that, given the choice, he'd rather tee it up on a nice day rather than the 2 God-awful ones they had Saturday and Sunday

Wouldn't you?

Weather wasn't exactly High Summer at Congressional was it?

After reading some posts,i think Fowler went up in peoples estimations, including myself.
As others said he didnt let the weather get under his skin,he just got on with it.
As i have said before in previous posts, half the field is beaten in wet weather before the game starts.
Garcia and Mclroy were beat in the third round, walking around like they wanted to be somewhere else.
Pleased for Clarke, impressed by Fowler and Johnson and really glad an American didnt win.

Where Fowler impressed me this weekend was that he was obviously prepared to do battle with the weather as much as the course. For someone who religiously plays on the US tour, it'd be all too easy for him to play comfortably and not look to change his game for one tournament, but Fowler came here and altered the shape of his shots to keep them low and out of the wind's reach. Not only would that have taken some preparation and practice to achieve properly, but it shows a commitment to adjust to each tournament's demands. For a young golfer, that's pretty impressive.

If only McIlroy had thought to do the same.

Very impressed by Fowler this week. He has the ability to do it and I think he will be in the running for a major in the very near future.

But - as has been said by others - its not just the ability , its the attitude he showed. I particularly liked the fact that if there was a bit of an iffy lie he didn't immediately grab the official and try and get a drop or relief - he just played it as it should be played, took the conditions on the chin and put some impressive shots out there.

Also impressed by Dustin - another solid performance.

I've already said I was impressed with his play and attitude in dreadful conditions.

I also liked the way that he (iirc) and Mickelson just decided they were going to get wet, put the raingear on, wet weather gloves (2 in PM's case) and didn't bother with an umbrella.

One thing that puzzles me though (and this is a serious question) is how the heck does his baseball cap stay on???

It's big enough so that it goes outside his ears yet it never moved!

Hat pins :D
