Hi All,

A few of us took advantage of a recent very reasonable Groupon and are playing both Richmond Park Course on Tuesday. Can anyone share any thoughts on the course(s)?

I see its Glendale Golf. Glendale operate a former Portsmouth City Council Course (Portsmouth GC) and they seem to be gradually improvng it, although the greens are in my view simply terrible. The club is run by the members and the course / pro shop / green fees etc administered by Glendale - it appears to be similar at Richmond Park?

We have got room for one more if anyone wanted to join us by the way. We are making a day of it travelling up from Hampshire.

princes course is a bit shorter the first used to be a good par 4 but they put a driving range in and made it a par 3 dont overclub here or you lose a ball on the first hole.
the course is a little bit hilly but wide open.
the dukes is longer flat but has some drainage ditches just in the right place to catch tee shots the course has some good shape holes but both courses have been neglected over the years and the condition leaves a lot to be desired.
there is a halfway hut on the course you pass a couple of times but is a bit pricey.

Played here today on both courses. Clearly here s a lot of investment going into a brand new club house.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the range served a purpose despite being battered. Presumably this will form part of the new club house.

We played the Princes Course in the morning and the opening hole did not bode well, with a very poor tee box. Having siad that fter that we were pleasently suprised to find the fairways and greens in decent nick, with the course just untidy and unkempt around the edges, but considering we had only payed £12.25 though Groupon we werent too dissapointed. Even the temp tees / greens werent that bad.

The Afternoon we played the Dukes and this was clearly better maintained, and more of a challenge. The closing par 3 is a real challenge and there are a couple of very tough par 4s.

Overall we were very happy and would reccomend if you can get it at a good price

I played Airlinks yesterday which is owned by the same people. £7.50 for a midweek round, absolute bargain! Interesting course with some well thought out hazards (based on the fact that I seemed to end up in them most of the afternoon!). A little on the short side and the bunkers need a bit of TLC.

Great
