got a 25 yr army reunion tomorrow, can't wait tbh, havent seen the vast majority for 23+ years.

How have any you have been on gone?

Granted there has been a few years gone past, all older, wiser and more boring :D

always nice to hang on to a bit of the past

I went to a school 25th reunion a few years ago. It was like going back in time. All the same cliques of 25 years ago and the same ar$es acting like idiots and showing off with their fancy cars etc. I stayed for half an hour then left. Best to leave well alone in my opinion. Incidentally, a week later I got a letter from the organiser saying how nice it was to speak to me again, and would I like to contribute to the School Foundation Fund! ( I never saw him at the reunion)

Army reunions are a different from school or work reunions, half of your old mates will kick of the banter as if the last saw you last week.

Theres something unique about military people when the get together other than being drunken animals ;)

Never been to one and don't ever plan on going to one either.
Most of the people I went to school with were complete knobs and almost certainly haven't changed...

You can never be sure of anything in life but I'm 99% sure that I'd NEVER attend a school reunion!

I've not spoken to any of my school mates for twenty years - why would I want to meet up with them now?

No, I think I'd rather stay in and watch X Factor. Or Murder, she wrote. Or re-runs of the BBC classic Eldorado.:p

There's a reason you haven't called them and they haven't called you...........

My brother went to one and he said he felt like Peter Pan as most were fat and bald (blokes) and the women were in the same cliques....-my brother big martial arts guy so very fit but he's gone bald as well......we don't mention it

Never been to one, don't intend going to one either.
There was one organised quite a few years ago by one of the school years geeky tw@ts.
Heard later that the place was full of over ego tised knob heads discussing how big their cars were and how successful they had become. The lasses just stood around and bitched about each other.

My thoughts? Crack on without me! :ears:

My school years were, in the main, brilliant. They were also 36yrs ago. A few years back I was back in the old country with work and took the opportunity to meet up with some old friends.

Although I enjoyed the evening, and the beer, the cold light of day took some of the gloss off the rose tinted memories.

Went to a good work reunion a few weeks back from a place I was at in the late 80s. Good to catch up with people to see what they've gone on to do.

The real kicker was that Homer used to work there too but no-one had invited him!

I meet up with my old school mates every 5 or 6 years and is like I saw them all yesterday. We slip straight back into the banter, no egos, no boasting just beers and a good laugh. That said, I have kept in touch with exactly nobody from my university and law school days and have no interest in meeting them again or knowing what they are up to.

Good mates are around forever no matter how infrequently you meet and talk.

Amen! hence why i de activated facebook.. i didnt like you at school, what are the chances of me wanting to be your [insert the inbetweeners voice]"friend"[end inbetweeners voice]

Got invited to a 10 year school reunion a couple of years back didn't really want to go then with a week to go before the evening an email came round saying we had to pay £20 for entry!!! No thanks!

If I haven't spoken to them for 10 years there's probably a reason! I still play golf with 1 lad from school and talk to a few friends from college!

well I have to report back that it was immense :)

was like being 16-18 again. only 9 of us and we were all good mates back then so it was like turning back the clock. Got mega drunk, a tattoo on my arse (we all had a commemorative one as one of the lads is now a tattooist) and I haven't laughed so much in a long while. Considering some of them are now army officers, a firemen, bank manager and a very successful businessman you wouldnt have known as it hasn't changed them at all (personality wise)

I guess army reunions are different to school ones. we all roomed together for 2 years solid so bonds are slightly stronger. Can't wait for the big 25 year one early next year, its gonna be crazy
