Retired clubs or just taking a nap?

Anything I have that's worth something gets shipped via E-bay coz I havn't got space to store vast quantities of unused gear.

Recently gave a bag full of old, valueless clubs and bags to the local charity shop.

In the cupboard now - an old faithful putter just waiting for the Piper to go wrong and the 3 and 4 irons from my set that I don't use at the mo.

I have on average about 100 new premium golf balls. Mainly ProV1s or Nike one plats.

Looking at the above posts, why do we hoard golf balls? This is crazy, it is not like you would ever not be able to buy some in a hurry if you ran out.

I nearly bought some the other day, because my 'stock' had dropped below 100. Luckily GM stepped in with a free doz to keep me from the wolf's door.

My nephew walks the course sometimes and recovers balls from all over the place, mostly OB, and I get first dibs on what he finds. He wandered off one evening and turned up about an hour later with 2 carrier bags full of balls. Around 40% of theses were pro v's. I took the clean ones and other various makes that i hadn't tried before, he had the rest.

I've got pro v1 s from the Ryder cup when it came to the K Club and they aint goin anywhere. But they're setimental.

Do modern balls have a "shelf life" after which they start to lose performance?

I am the opposite to you guys. Maybe it's because I am a lowly web designer and have 2 kids that drain my rescources but I don't seem to invest in new clubs very often. I do need a new driver as I cannot hit my Superquad at all and my old driver was non conforming.

I always thought they might....but I took a sleeve of 10 y.o. Titleist pts wound out with me the other day....seemed fine.

What wasn't fine was looking at them and thinking I was back in the 90s......life on Mars.....almost!!

was wondering if anyone had a cart bag they no longer need/use as I am looking at getting one as the stand bag I have is way past it's best (For past it's best use 'Falling Apart') and now prefer to use a cart.
