Morning All,
I was wondering if I was the only one, I seem to be building a golf shop in my outhouse with clubs not used!! I was just thinking about it whilst looking at freedom from my work window, so far in 14 months of playing I have collected/stored/bent : -

2 x drivers (cobra f speed & hippo os4)
1 x 5 wood (Ben Ross v6 trimass)
1 x 3 wood (Hippo os4)
2 x hybrids (hippo os4 & Wilson deep red)
1 x set of irons (Hippo os4)
3 x wedges (fake CG12 wedges, got my money back though)
1 x putter (Hippo os4)

Not mentioning that it seems my entire wardrobe has turned from normal clothing to polos, wool sweaters, wind shirts and chinos!! I am not sure if its a early midlife crisis or just golf addiction. :(

I have similar issues. What do you do with old clubs which have no sell on value? I snapped a load in half and put them in the bin recently, but still have loads left.

I nearly always wear dress rule compliant clothes, as I never know when I might drop by the club. As a result, my wardrobe is jammed with golf gear. I don't wear shirts to work, just polos and chinos.

I still need to get rid of a load of spare clubs though. Most have had the newness worn off them, so their value is zip.

My retired golf clubs live in a rack in the rafters of my garage. It's scary sometimes to think what we spend on our golf, knowing full well that in the course of time the kit will end up retired and replaced with some other miracle club. I've got an old 2 iron in there that I just cant throw away. Won my first silverware using that in the mid 80s. Don't think I could hit it at all now as the clubhead is so small its unbelievable. I have a set of clubs in my locker at present just in case I drop into the club for a quick 9 some afternoon. If they were in the garage, the rack might collapse.

As for the clothes, well thats nottoo bad, can't aford new clothes as I keep buying golf clubs instead ;)

Well so far the wife has bought me for my birthday: -

Ashworth polo
Ashworth jumper
Callaway jacket
2 x hybrids (she doesnt know this one yet)

I think I need help.

Some items are retired, some resting... The Missus keeps saying i ought to go down the car boot & offload some... But that would eat into good golfing time.

Oh, I always seem to wear golf attire even when I'm not golfing, to me it feels smart & stylish, no to mention comfortable, what else but a smart Polo to can you waft into a posh restaurant without wearing a tie. Case closed.

Years ago people would keep the same golf clubs for 30 or 40 years, they'd be passed down from father to son, son to grandson. But now technology rules the day & every day it changes & we change our clubs as often as some change their mobile phone, its all a bi-product of the society we live in; tbqh a very wasteful, needful one. Part of me yearns for those days where clubs were kept in the family for decades when we were satisfied with our lot. Part of me yearns to be able to think Perssimon woods were the hight of technology & decadence, when golf was an art & not a science.

I Like your style

Thing is is there that expensive kenwood mixer you don't know you've bought her for hers yet....

Oh, you can't beat Ashworth as a safe name to get btw

Think Homer will beat us all on this one, I give most of my retired gear to mates who just knock the ball about a few times a year.

Or swap it on out great buy/sell/swap section.

HTL

You will be glad to know I had a damn good clar out in the summer under strict orders from HID and took a lot of my unwanted stuff to AG as it goes back to HQ and is then resent (where useable) to schools and youth organisations to get kids into the game.

At present in the back room I am down to@

1 set of TM R7's (4-SW - steel)
1 set of Callaway X20's (4-PW - graphite)

1 Ben Hogan Apex 56 degree SW (courtesy of GM)
1 Titleist vokey 60 degree LW

3 dozen Pro V, 2 dozen TM black, 2 dozen Callaway I Tour and a dozen Srixon URS balls. I practice ball bag full of Titleist balls and two carrier bags of spares. 1 eyeline putting aid and 1 proliner teaching aid (for alignment). 6 sci flex footjoy gloves, 5 footjoy sta sof, 1 footjoy dry ice (all new) gloves

2 pairs of myjoy shoes (Dryjoy pods) 2 pairs of dryjoys and a pair of Hi Tec. 2 proquip waterproof suits, 11 golf jumpers, 17 golf shirts, 1 base layer top and 9 pairs of golfing trousers.

I have no idea how I've accumulated so many balls and gloves. I've had the titleist practice balls (all marked with a red marker pen line around them to signify they are mine on the practice ground) but have been sitting there for at least 5 years. I only have golf shirts in my wardrobe as casual and so they all get worn. I can wear smart casual in work so all my trousers get used and as I play both days at weekends shoes get used rotationally to make sure they all get to dry out after use.

Mizzy MX19 3 iron

On another note are you willing to part with one or two items?

I am, but still can't get rid of the urge to buy something when I walk into a retailer or pro shop.

I have given away a driver and 3 wood to a mate, he won't buy anything, he just says i'll wait till you get fed up of something and have it off you. (I know i'm going to upset some now but he is Scottish!!!)

I still NEED a top quality lightweight waterproof suit

My missus never has a problem with me spending "you work hard, spend it" she's a gem.
Still waiting for a locker at the club so I can free up some space for more "precious"
