We are heading to Newcastle soon for a night away. Anyone got any recommendations for a good restaurant.
Will be staying in Malmaison so anything close to there would be handy.

My wife meets up with friends and goes to this place, http://www.21newcastle.co.uk/ . Not far from where you are staying and highly rated.

There are plenty of places to eat on the Quayside and roads just up from it under the bridge. I don't tend to know them, no money left after paying for golf, ha ha, but they wouldn't survive if they were poor.

Simla or Dabbawal would be my choice for curry.
Bierrex or Hop and Cleaver (near Malmaison) for bbq pit type food.
House of Tides (also near Malmaison) is a fine dining restaurant which is supposed to be awesome but it's very expensive apparently.
The one at the top of the Baltic is also very nice, again a bit pricey but worth it for the views alone.
Peace and Loaf is superb but a short taxi ride from the Quayside however there is a taxi rank at the rear door to the Malmaison.

Mantra is the best Thai restaurant in Newcastle, it’s a 15 minute walk along the Quayside. The Broad Clare is very close to your hotel, it does traditional British food with a bit of a twist, it’s very good. If you want Indian, Vujon is a 5 minutes walk. Haven’t been for a few years but used to be really nice. We tend to go to Dabbawal these days.

For a more informal meal, The Botanist is not bad, the decor is pretty stunning. Do not go to The Alchemist, very disappointing when we went a few months ago. Fat Hippo is decent for burgers.
