Just sitting watching the golf (Honda Classic) and Kyle Stanley took a massive divot out the fairway and neither him or his caddie replaced it. wouldnt care but i thnk he is relatively new to the tour!

On fairways like that i think its bad craic as its left a bout a foot deep hole in the fairway!

Your views on divot replacing???

You definately don't want to be quitting on those shots! haha.

As an aside, I see Johnny Vegas is on the tour now, I nearly choked on my coffee when I heard that name being mentioned as I was browsing on another tab.

Do they ever replace divots on the US tour ? Is it like not replacing divots on tees ? Pros preferring to play from a divot, rather than a replaced one.

Think the majority do replace them. Even the mighty Steve "I'm as famous as my employer" Williams goes and gets Tigers excavations. I know at the end of the play they have divotting parties that go and put sand and feed into all of them which is why you see a lot of white or dark patches as play goes on throughout the tournament

I wondered why he left "Benidorm" :D

But do divots really recover if replaced or are they best simply re-sown. I see lots of loose divots on the course and have heard people blame the crows for pulling them up foraging, myth or not?? :D

Have seen fairways covered in divots at US events. I know birds pull them up,but seeing how the courses are normally immaculate, it is odd.

Apparently its the 'Bemuda grass', it does not grow back so there is no requirement to replace the divot. The greenstaff fill them all in after the comp has finished. That is why you will see them throw it out to the rough area as opposed to leaving it in the fairway.

Its usually the pro's caddie that replaces diviots am sure.

I know the majority do but this guy and his caddie never bothered and as a bit of a rookie at the top of the leaderboard i thought it was bloody terrible. these young whipersnappers :p

Well done that man, i thought i was seeing things (again) :D :D :D

Not sure why your suprised Screwback....take a look at out track in the morning,no one replaces them there either, the place was littered with them last week.

Aye its in some clip in places with them aswell. dont see any problem with replacing them does not take a lot of effort!

Alan, our place in the winter looks bad as the birds come and turn the divots over so even if the majority were replaced, the wee feckers come and ruin the look of the place, usually on two fairways it is very prevalent over the others.

That's what happens at our place. Sometimes golfers nail them down with tees.

I have a reputation for taking the biggest divots in the club, but they come out in one piece and replace perfectly. It's the scruffy divots that are put back in about five pieces that you need to avoid.

I cant help it, the greens dont have much substance to their divots :D

You obviously have a delicate touch on the greens. ;)

I'm just back from a golfing holiday in Florida and the starters at most of the courses we played specifically told us not to replace divots as they will not grow, but to fill divots with sand which is on the buggies.
