Afternoon all,

I have a Rife putter that has a black painted head, however the paint on it is wearing quite badly. I was wondering if there is any way I can remove the paint safely so it is all silver.

Cheers

If it isn't stainless it will rust quite quickly, and look even worse. It doesn't rust where the finish wears off, because that's where it wears.

Makes sense to me.....

I have a scotty with an oil blacked finish. Regardless of how much oil I throw at it, including spraying it in the head cover, it rusts like a rusty thing the moment there is the merest hint of moisture in the air.

The trick is to oil it before you store it. I've kept a rifle for over 20 years now; much of the paint is gone in some places, all that is needed is a wipe with gun oil and it never rusts. Believe me, its been to some wet places.
