I hope they do and I hope they replace them with outsiders,it'll show the majority up for the shower of incompetent twats that they really are.

On a side note it will be refreshing for us to play Berwick Rangers in the cup.......we may just get some decisions go our way against Rangers for once.

if there weren't so many players trying to win oscars or points out of 10 for style for diving the refs would have something of a chance. Thanks to the overseas players for bringing this into the British game. :(

The new buzz word at Celtic is clarification. They want clarification on every little thing that goes on. Can they clarify why wee teams like Motherwell have had to endure these decisions for decades. If Samaras and Co weren't as cack they would score more goals and win more games.

I would love to see the ref run up to Lennon and shout in his face 'THAT BIG GREEK IS SH1TE, WHY DID YOU PLAY HIM AND YOUR TACTICS ARE PISS POOR TOO YA WE KNOB' Now that I would pay to see.

Good old scottish football, when you got tackled you were only one of the thousands that felt it. These days they're trying to replicate diving etc and just haven't honed those skills. In my opinion time to go back to good old proper tackling that opposing players/victims tried to ride rather than lie Dawn. Might as well get that card and actually make contact.
NI footy still hasn't been too diluted with foreign players coming in so when someone goes down, generally it will require a month off and a few get well soon cards.

It seems a shame that even with talk of a strike the instinctive reaction from the SPL is to look to foreign refs instead of looking at measures to address the reasons why the refs are striking in the first instance.

I would hope that if any foreign refs are approached they decline the offer.

It's very simple for me and as it involves my club I'm happy for my chairman to speak out, particularly as our club had discussions with the SFA who seemed, going by Regan's comments, to have a bit of sympathy for our stance. John Reid is accountable to the Celtic fans, we see

1. A ref lying to our manager
2. The ref's boss repeating that lie and even worse, knowing it was a lie saying that our manager accepted the explanation from the ref
3. The referee's committee comprising of former refs more or less saying that some lies are acceptable

That's whats up for discussion here, Reid's history, Celtic's history, our fans are not the issue in this case, that not to say the refs don;'t have a case against clubs including Celtic re abuse, that's a different matter but I find it extraordinary that the SFA are looking at bringing in foreign refs for this weekend instead of supporting the Referees............what does that tell you??Sweep sweep yet again from the governing body.

Let's stop beating about the bush here ..... the problem is INTIMIDATION.

The referees are so afreaid of the Celtic fans - death threats etc - that they will amend the match report to deflect blame.

Celtic see this as the referees problem whilst the rest of us see this as an unacceptable pressure on the ref.

My wee diddy team are playing Celtic on Saturday - maybe - what chance have we got in a 50/50 tackle? All decisions are Celtic's due to pressure on the ref - even a clear cut non penalty where the TV evidence shows the keeper clearing the ball from the forwards feet before the forward falls over him, requires the ref to give a penalty - this is what the dispute is all about - the refs fear caused the report to be diluted, although the linesman still received death threats.

Reid, Celtics chairman, is the Tony Blair supporter who backed our entry into Iraq, now feels that the referees are LIARS for diluting their report due to fear .. well, he is an authority on lying.

With only two big teams in Scotland, the ugly sisters always received the bulk of 50/50 decisions anyway due to the baying of 50,000 supporters against the wee teams 500 .. but Celtic now want even more pressure on the refs and want to know even the referees favourite team when they were in school and if it was not Celtic, their decisions are therefore biased!!

You see Celtic's opinion is there is only one view .. Celtic's view ... and they can't understand that other team's supporters can actually see both sides in any infringement. They are indeed very sad.

Icelandic refs have offered to do this weeks games.

Can't be any worse than Scottish refs and hopefully impartial unlike the Old Farm bias week in week out!

Anyone who would referee a football match deserves a medal and your admiration. I once ran the line in an under-11 kids league and couldn't believe the abuse from parents.
Give refs guns and a licence to kill.

I'm sticking to golf where the ball doesn't move until hit and you are your own ref.

To be honest I don't know the ins and outs of the current case, but hope the refs do strike.

Football needs a kick up the arse, yes, refs make mistakes, and some big ones too, but each individual player makes more mistakes per game than the referee, and he is involved in every second of it!

Until players stop trying to con and cheat referees I will have a lot more respect for the men in black/yellow/green... than the pre-madonnas that kick the pigs bladder about.

I was a class 3 referee for a few seasons back in my mid 20's/ I loved the Saturday afternoon matches as these tended to be a decent standard and guys who were interested in playing and not kicking lumps out of each other. Vets games in particular were great. They all seemed chilled and passed the ball about. Very little running on my part and very little trouble.

I did about 1/2 a season of Sunday games. Totally different kettle of fish and not worth the match fee for the amount of abuse and intimidation. Full of drunk thugs full of lager from the night before and still looking for a fight. The first and only rule seemed to be if you can't get the man get the ball. Absolutely no help or support from any of the managers. Almost impossible to get a linesman from each side so how do they expect every offside to be spotted. No wonder the numbers are dwindling.

I only did two junior games at U16 and U14 and refused to do anymore. Kids diving, feigning injury and trying to copy Rooney, Drogba etc. The parents were even worse. In one game I got threatened for booking a player. I told the managers at half-time that any repeat and I'd abandon the game and fortunately on this occasion common sense prevailed. Again, everyone bleats about lack of opportunities at junior level but they need to look closer to home for the real reasons

I echo what Spoff said. The ref probably makes the LEAST mistakes of all those on the pitch. Managers know they can't slate their superstars as they will no want to play or them so the easy way out is the ref. All this coz Celtic never got a penalty when the keeper got the ball.

well if they do strike it's only in Scotland, more's the pity. you never know, there might then be a chance for other sports to get an airing.

won't happen though!
